NEW YORK -- Russell Westbrook doesnt just do triple-doubles in games anymore. Now hes got one for the entire season.Westbrook raised his averages to 30.9 points, 11.3 assists and 10.3 rebounds through more than a month of play with his NBA-leading eighth triple-double as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the New York Knicks 112-103 on Monday night.Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson is the only NBA player to average a triple-double for a season, so Westbrook was asked if his current pace is sustainable.Winning is sustainable, he said. Thats all I know, man, and my job is to make sure we go out and find the best way to win games and right now weve won three straight and thats the most important part for me.Westbrook had his third straight triple-double and the 45th of his career and nearly did it by halftime, finishing with 27 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists. He had 14 points, 10 boards and nine assists at the break. He is going to put up numbers because of his ability and just how hard he plays and his gifts, but hes doing a lot of other things that the stat sheet doesnt measure, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. I know everybody is focused on that right now and rightfully so. Its historic what hes doing. But hes really a complete point guard all the way around.Enes Kanter added a season-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Steven Adams had 14 points and 10 boards as the Thunder outrebounded the Knicks 53-40.We got manhandled. Thats tough, Knicks center Joakim Noah said. Russ definitely puts a lot of pressure on the bigs when hes going downhill like that. At the end of the day its always tough knowing that we lost the game on the glass.Derrick Rose scored a season-best 30 points, but the Knicks had their six-game home winning streak snapped. Kristaps Porzingis added 21 points and Carmelo Anthony had 18, but shot just 4 for 19.Westbrook fell just shy of his third straight 15-assist game, but had his highest rebound total of the season -- and one off his career best -- to keep the Thunder rolling after a recent three-game skid. The Knicks led by 11 in the first quarter and things were coming easily, but the Thunder began to grab control with Westbrooks hustle and Kanters muscle, getting numerous baskets inside to turn around the game.It happened so quickly that Westbrook nearly had the stat sheet stuffed before the break.Joffrey Lauvergne missed a 3-pointer that wouldve given Westbrook a 10th assist with 32 seconds left in the half, but the point guard who was MVP of the All-Star Game on this floor two years ago had a shot at the halftime triple-double after grabbing his 10th rebound on the defensive end with a little more than 20 seconds left. He brought the ball up and tried to create, but turned it over on a pass with about 5 seconds to go.TIP-INSThunder: They are 11-5 against the Knicks since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. ... Donovan grew up in New York and played one season for the Knicks in 1987-88.Knicks: Coach Jeff Hornacek said reserve F Lance Thomas, who hasnt played since Nov. 12 because of a left ankle injury, has been working on the exercise bike and shooting and could be back at practice soon, though there is no timetable for his return to games.STRANGE SCHEDULEThe Thunder are in the midst of a five-game stretch in which they wont play consecutive games in the same time zone. They came to New York for essentially a one-game road trip in between home games Saturday and Wednesday.HE KNOWS NOAHNoah hasnt made a huge impact yet in his first season with the Knicks, but his college coach thinks he will. Donovan, who coached Florida to back-to-back national championships when Noah played there, said the center has incredible heart and praised him as a team leader who cares only about winning.Hes going to put his work in, but hes one of those guys in my opinion thats just truly all about sacrifice, team and winning, Donovan said. So I think hell bring that to the Knicks throughout the entire season.UP NEXTThunder: Host Washington on Wednesday, their first game against former Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks.Knicks: Visit Minnesota on Wednesday to start another home-and-home set, with the return game at Madison Square Garden on Friday. State of Origin duty has primed Michael Morgan to step up in Johnathan Thurstons absence, North Queensland back-rower Gavin Cooper says. But Cooper would not be surprised if playmaker Thurston ran out for the Cowboys in Saturday nights NRL top-three clash with Melbourne in Townsville.North Queensland coach Paul Green has not ruled out the possibility of Thurston playing despite reports the co-captain will be sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring complaint.I wouldnt be surprised at all (if Thurston played), Cooper said.Thats him - anythings possible. But Cooper said Morgan was ready to take over the team reins after emerging as a leader from Origin duty for Queensland.Morgan has cemented a key Maroons bench utility role since his Origin debut last year.Morgo has really grown as a player the last two years, Cooper said. His game sense now is second to none.Thats something we will really look to (in Thurstons absence).Cooper admitted there would be pressure on Morgan to fill Thurstons shoes.Leading us around will be a little weight on his shoulders but nothing he cant handle, he said.Footy comes naturally to him.It will be a good opportunity for him if we do go without JT, but I hope we dont. The decision to downgrade the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes and Wood Memorial to Grade 2 status in 2017, which was announced Friday by the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, has elicited a visceral reaction in some quarters.Right here, I think its important to note that these adjustments, and the downgrading of the Mother Goose from Grade 1 to Grade 2 and the upgrading of the Pennsylvania Derby from Grade 2 to Grade 1, are not part of a larger reset by the AGSC. There will be 464 graded stakes races in 2017, the same number as this year. And the 107 Grade 1 races in 2017 represent a net loss of only two.Clearly, these Grade 1 stakes adjustments for 2017 were the result of a judgment call on the part of the AGSC.I understand the inclination to rail against authority. I am part of a generation that made an art form of it. So while Im naturally predisposed to protest moves like this, in the case of the downgrading of the Blue Grass and Wood Memorial, I cant. I agree with these races being downgraded. When you consider that the main function of the Blue Grass and Wood Memorial is to serve as prep races for the Kentucky Derby, it is impossible to avoid this fact: These two races have significantly underperformed over an extended period of time in comparison with the other major final Kentucky Derby preps -- the Florida, Santa Anita, and Arkansas Derbies -- which were left untouched by the UGSC.Street Sense (2007), Thunder Gulch (1995), and Sea Hero (1993) emerged from losses in the Blue Grass to win the Kentucky Derby. However, the last actual winner of the Blue Grass to win the Derby was Strike the Gold all the way back in 1991. Moreover, the last winner of the Blue Grass to win any Triple Crown race was Prairie Bayou, winner of the Preakness back in 1993.The Wood Memorial has performed only slightly better than the Blue Grass. While Funny Cide (2003) and Monarchos (2001) emerged from losses in the Wood to win the Derby (Funny Cide, of course, also won the Preakness), the last actual winner of the Wood to win the Derby was Fusaichi Pegasus in 2000. And the last winner of the Wood to win any Triple Crown race was Empire Maker, who won the 2003 Belmont Stakes. So to be crystal clear here, the last winner of the Blue Grass to win the Derby came 25 years ago, and the last winner of the Wood to win the Derby came 16 years ago. Thats simply too long when you see how the other major final Kentucky Derby preps have performed. Two Arkansas Derby winners who went on to do more than just win the Kentucky Derby -- American Pharoah (2015) and Smarty Jones (2004) -- won the Kentucky Derby since the last winner of the Wood also won the Derby, or since the last winner of the Blue Grass won the Derby. Also, Super Saver (2010) emerged from a loss in the Arkansas Derby to win the Kentucky Derby. Two of the last five Santa Anita Derby winners went on to win the Kentucky Derby -- California Chrome in 2014 and Ill Have Another in 2012 (they both also went on to win the Preakness) -- and Giacomo (2005) won the Kentucky Derby after a loss in the Santa Anita Derby.Four of the last 11 Florida Derby winners won the Kentucky Derby -- Nyquist (this year), Orb (2013), Big Brown (2008), and Barbaro (2006).To put it another way, between the Wood and Blue Grass, the Wood was the last of the two to produce a winner in the Kentucky Derby. Since that Wood-Kentucky Derby winner, the Florida, Santa Anita, and Arkansas Derbies have had a combined eight winners go on to win the Kentucky Derby. There isnt much room for debate here. The Blue Grass and Wood Memorial are races with histories, but when compared with analogous races such as the Florida Derby, Santa Anita Derby, and Arkansas Derby, they have not kept step for many years. It might hurt proponents of the Blue Grass and Wood, but these downgrades make sense. So does the upgrade of the Pennsylvania Derby. It is important here to understand the distinction between a race like the Pennsylvania Derby, and races like the Blue Grass and Wood. The Blue Grass and Wood are out-and-out prep races, and their worth can really only be measured by how their winners go on to perform in the race (the Kentucky Derby) they serve. The Pennsylvania Derby is much more of a standalone event. Sure, its a serviceable springboard to the Breeders Cup Classic. A cynic would also say its a means for horsemen to avoid meeting older horses with their 3-year-olds for one more time. But the Pennsylvania Derby is in no way a pure prep in the sense the Blue Grass and Wood are. And with such horses as Will Take Charge, Bayern, California Chrome, and Frosted (a winner of the Wood, by the way) having competed in it in recent years, and with the first two finishers this year (Connect and Gun Runner) having very recently won Grade 1 races over older horses, it would have been an injustice if the Pennsylvania Derby was not elevated to Grade 1 status. The ironic thing about the agonizing over the downgrading of the Blue Grass and Wood is that hardly a word has been mentioned about the downgrading of the Mother Goose, which, in my view, was totally unwarranted, and a complete mistake. Not that anything can be done about it now, but heres why I forcefully oppose the downgrading of the Mother Goose: Counting Songbird as champion 3-year-old filly this year (daring, I know), three of the last 12 3-year-old filly champions won the Mother Goose -- Smuggler in 2005, Rachel Alexandra in 2009, and Untapable only two years ago!The Mother Goose has operated at a high level for not only a long time, but also, as noted, in very recent years, too. Lowering it to a Grade 2 appears arbitrary, capricious, and I frankly see no justification for it. Discount Shoes Black Friday . LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. Welcome to Week 10! Were down to four teams on bye this week, but in combination with the injuries, there are still difficult choices for fantasy owners. The teams on bye this week are the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and the Oakland Raiders, while the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens have already played on Thursday (as the Browns lost yet another game while offering little in the way of fantasy point production).Injury concerns regarding players heading into the Sunday and Monday games can be critical. Each Saturday, this entry will be dedicated to each player who appears on the official weekly NFL game status injury report and how his status might impact fantasy teams. For those who might be new to this feature: Injury reports provide some insight into a players status. The NFL requires teams to submit practice injury reports several times a week, identifying the body part that is involved in the injury. This year, there has been a change in the language of injury reporting, per the league office. The most notable change is the removal of the probable designation. For more detailed information on the changes and what they mean, click here.Early in the week, the practice injury reports indicate whether a player did not practice, was limited in practice or was a full participant in practice. On Fridays, all teams file a game status injury report assigning one of the following designations: questionable, doubtful or out. The designations listed here reflect the injury reports filed with the league office Friday evening. Teams playing Monday night do not have to issue their designations until Saturday. The explanation for each designation is as follows:Out: This is the easy one: The guy is not playing this week.Questionable (Q): This remains the most dreaded player designation. By definition it means a player is uncertain to play. How uncertain is uncertain? There is no percentage or measurement scale, so this classification remains rather vague. Whether a player ends up active or inactive often comes down to a game-time decision based on how he feels on game-day morning or how he performs during warm-ups. Final inactives are due 90 minutes before kickoff.Doubtful (D): The doubtful designation means a player is unlikely to play that week. Rarely does a player labeled as doubtful end up playing, unless he experiences a major turnaround before game time. Each week in this Saturday feature, we run down a list of key fantasy players, by position, who appear in the Friday injury report, along with the injured body part as listed on the report, player status and any relevant developments or insight. The primary fantasy positions are covered (quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end). This year, at the end of each positional section, there is a subgroup of players: Players off game status injury report. The probable tag no longer exists, so players who would have been listed as probable in previous years are now simply removed from the report. This means there will be players who appear in the practice injury reports during the week but will not appear on the game-status report Friday, since they are presumed active for game day. They are included in this article so that fantasy owners can see where players who were on the practice injury report during the week have been upgraded in advance of the games. At the end, key fantasy players listed Friday as out for the weeks games will appear as a group.QuarterbacksRyan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets, knee, (Q): Fitzpatrick sprained the MCL in his left knee in Week 9 and coach Todd Bowles was clear: Fitzpatrick needed to practice in order to play Sunday. Practice he did, albeit on a limited basis daily. Although he is listed as questionable, ESPN.coms Rich Cimini makes the case for Fitzpatrick to be the likely starter. Still, Bowles has made it a game-time decision so fantasy owners who are rolling the dice with Fitzpatrick may want to wait until the team announces pregame inactives.Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys, back, (Q): It really doesnt matter for fantasy purposes whether Romo is active for this game or not as it clearly remains Dak Prescotts job for the time being. Still, this is a huge development from a health perspective. Romo has been medically cleared and returned to three consecutive days of full participation in practice after sitting out the first half of the season recovering from an L1 vertebral compression fracture. Even when he was playing regularly in recent history, we didnt see Romo practice three days in a row. The team has indicated they will wait until Sunday morning to determine whether he is active for this game. If nothing else, the Cowboys are close to having two healthy, capable quarterbacks, something any number of other teams would welcome at this point of the season.Players Off Game Status Injury Report:Alex Smith, QB, Kansas City Chiefs, head/ear: Smith sat out the Week 9 contest in what the Chiefs described as a precautionary move, but he resumed full practice immediately this week. The team announced Monday that Smith would be the starter, so his removal from the game status injury report comes as no surprise.Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers, knee: Roethlisberger returned to the playing field in Week 9, just three weeks after arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to address a meniscal tear. He was rusty to start but improved as the game progressed. His mobility may not be what it once was, but he proved he could get through an entire game without a setback. Another week removed from surgery can only be a good thing, as is the fact that Roethlisberger was able to practice in full all week. His removal from the game status injury report proves the team has no concerns about his Sunday status.Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks, knee: The only body part still listed next to Wilsons name is knee and even that continues to improve. On Monday night, Wilson looked as good as he has since the season started, a clear reflection of his improving health. While he may not yet be 100 percent, his performance in Week 9 should instill more confidence that he can continue to improve in the second half. This week the Seahawks travel east to face the Patriots, not the easiest task, but Wilsons schedule is pretty appealing thereafter.Running BacksDoug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hamstring, (Q): Will this be the week we see the re-emergence of Martin? It appears that way, although its unclear just how much work Martin would handle in his first outing in two months. Out since Week 2 with a hamstring injury (his absence was extended by an aggravation of the original injury during a workout before the Week 5 Monday night game), Martin was in practice each day this week, culminating in a full practice effort Friday. Listed as questionable for the Week 10 game, Martins status was expected to be formally determined over the weekend leading up to a game-time announcement. The Tampa Bay Times is reporting Martin will indeed be active Sunday against the Bears.Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams, thigh, (Q): Gurley cropped up on the injury report with an unspecified thigh injury, and it kept him off the practice field Wednesday. Although he was also listed as a non-participant Thursday, the team did not conduct a practice, so this was merely a projection. Gurley returned Friday and posted a full practice, an encouraging sign. He traveled east with the team and the expectation, barring a surprise, is that he will play. The bigger challenge may be facing a stalwart Jets run defense.Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers, shoulder, (Q): Hyde remained in a non-contact blue jersey in practice throughout the week and was listed as limited. He has said his shoulder continues to feel better, his range of motion has improved and he has raised his activity level somewhat, including hitting the blocking sled Thursday for the first time since his Week 6 injury. Still, there remains some doubt as to his game status since coach Chip Kelly indicated the medical staff will not make a decision until Sunday morning. Fantasy owners who are considering using Hyde should have a backup plan in place. This is a late game with kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET.James Starks, Green Bay Packers, knee, (Q): It appears Starks has a chance to make his return from arthroscopic knee surgery on Sunday after practicing on a daily basis, albeit in limited fashion. Coach Mike McCarthy has praised Starks efforts in practice, but his Sunday status will still come down to a game-time decision. As ESPN.coms Rob Demovsky points out, the Packers may ease Starks back into action and continue to rely heavily on Ty Montgomery. Fantasy owners considering using Starks will want to check pregame inactives and temper expectations if Starks is indeed active.Christine Michael, Seattle Seahawks, hamstring, (Q): Surprise! Michael was a very late addition to the injury report when a hamstring injury turned up for him on Friday, leaving his Sunday status in doubt. With Rawls still out, the run game looks to be primarily in the hands of C.J. Prosise this week, even as coach Pete Carroll was already hinting at increased touches for him.Players Off Game Status Injury Report: Spencer Ware, Kansas City Chiefs, concussion: Ware was cleared to play earlier in the week. After a week of full practices, Ware is expected to play without limitation Sunday.Lamar Miller, Houston Texans, shoulder: Miller played in Week 8, sprained shoulder and all. He wasnt at full strength, but he still managed to get in the end zone. The bye week came at the perfect time for him, allowing him to return to practice each day this week (limited Wednesday and Thursday, full on Friday). His removal from the game status injury report indicates he is expected to play against the Jaguars.Jerick McKinnon, ankle and Ronnie Hillman, heel, Minnesota Vikings: McKinnon overcame an ankle injury that kept him out of practice early last week to play in the Week 9 contest. His production was limited however (just eight yards on seven carries) and he was in a workload share with Ronnie Hillman and Matt Asiata. McKinnons ankle has improved to the point where he was a full participant in practice throughout the week and he was removed from the game status injury report. Still, its hard to predict how the division of carries will play out this week against Washington. As for Hillman, he appeared on the practice injury report but participated fully all week and is removed from the game status injury report. Expect McKinnon, Hillman and Asiata to all see time on the field.Devontae Booker, Denver Broncos, shoulder: Booker played in Week 9 after sustaining a bruised shoulder the week before and had no reported setbacks. He was a full participant in practice throughout the week, and his removal from the game status injury report comes as no surprise.KaDeem Carey, Chicago Bears, illness: Carey appeared on the injury report due to illness and missed a practice day Wednesday. He was back in full practice Thursday and Friday, however, and is off the game status injury report.Matt Forte, New York Jets, knee: This is now familiar; Forte has a light day Wednesday, then a full day Thursday and Friday. He is expected to make his usual start Sunday.DeMarco Murray, toe and Derrick Henry, calf, Tennessee Titans: The surprise here is Henry, who didnt participate in practice until Friday. Henry strained his calf in pregame warmups last Sunday and was held out of the game. It may be that the decision to restt him in Week 9 aided in his quick recovery.dddddddddddd Henry was back as a full participant in Fridays practice, and the team has enough confidence in his health to completely remove him from the game status injury report.Murray has been on the injury report for a couple weeks now with a right toe injury. This week, coach Mike Mularkey said Murrays toe is improving but still painful, given the repeated planting and cutting he subjects it to while playing. Murray was given an off day Wednesday, had a limited practice Thursday and returned to full work Friday. There is no reason to expect him to suddenly give up a dramatic portion of the workload unless he sustains an in-game setback (or another injury). But the insurance Henry provides has to give the Titans some peace of mind, and it wouldnt be surprising to see him at least get some spot work this week.Wide ReceiversDez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys, knee, (Q): It seems a bit odd that Bryant continues to be listed as questionable because of his knee since he has already played in two games since the injury and he has practiced without limitation all week. There have been no hints out of Dallas that Bryant is expected to do anything other than suit up and play.Allen Hurns, Jacksonville Jaguars, concussion, (Q): Hurns sat out Wednesdays practice with a concussion but received clearance to return to limited practice Thursday. He was again a limited participant Friday but had yet to receive full clearance for game play, hence the questionable designation. As of now, his status remains uncertain. This is an early game Sunday, so there will be time for fantasy owners to make a roster change if Hurns cannot go.Will Fuller V, Houston Texans, knee, (Q): Fuller exited the Week 8 game against the Lions with a knee injury. Despite the bye week in the interim, Fuller was limited in practice throughout this week. Between Braxton Miller taking increased practice reps with the first team and coach Bill OBrien saying early in the week that Fuller could be a game-time call, its hard to feel confident about his questionable status. Fantasy owners may want to look elsewhere.Travis Benjamin, knee, (D) and Tyrell Williams, knee, (Q), San Diego Chargers: It is clear that Benjamin is struggling with his PCL-injured knee. Visibly in and out of last weeks contest, he was a non-participant in practice the entire week, a downgrade from what he has done in the past. The doubtful designation certainly makes it appear he will not be available for the Chargers Sunday.Williams had a more typical week. He was not in practice Wednesday but returned to limited work Thursday and Friday. Given that he has played through the questionable tag for several weeks, it stands to reason Williams will do the same again. Perhaps no team will be more excited for their bye than the decimated Chargers, who will have next week off. In the meantime, theyll host the Dolphins at home Sunday in a late (4:05 p.m. ET) kickoff.Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins, shoulder, (Q): Landry was added to the injury report Thursday when he did not practice after experiencing discomfort Wednesday. He was able to return to a limited practice on Friday but his status remains uncertain. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald says the Dolphins expect Landry to play.DeSean Jackson, Washington Redskins, shoulder, (D): Jackson didnt participate in a single practice in order to rest his shoulder. Despite an MRI that turned up no significant structural damage, coach Jay Gruden said Jackson was dealing with rotator cuff issues. The doubtful tag makes it easy for fantasy owners to stay away; the hope is that this will be a short-lived absence.Julian Edelman, foot and Chris Hogan, back, (Q), New England Patriots: Edelman has been a fixture on the injury report because of his foot and continues to stay limited in practice throughout the week. He has not missed any games, and that is not expected to change this week.Hogan is a different story. He was added to the Patriots injury report Friday because of his back and did not practice. There is little detail as to the nature or severity of Hogans ailment, but a Friday addition to the injury report with a questionable designation heading into a Sunday night game all makes for trouble for fantasy owners.Victor Cruz, New York Giants, ankle, (Q): Cruz sprained his ankle in Week 9, and while his teammate Odell Beckham Jr. did not expect him to miss time, Cruz appeared a little more cautious. He did say that if he missed Monday nights game, he planned on being available the next week. Cruz was held out of practice all week but has been doing some side work with the rehab staff. Given Cruzs recent injury history, it would not come as a surprise if the team held him out. Either way, it appears the decision will not be finalized until Monday.Eddie Royal, Chicago Bears, toe, (Q): Royal has been out since Week 6 with a toe injury. Coming out of the Week 9 bye, Royal was a daily practice participant on a limited basis. Although he comes into the game as questionable, ESPN.coms Jeff Dickerson reports Royal has made it clear he wants to play in this game. Outside of Week 4, Royals fantasy production has been limited, and Alshon Jeffery is expected to continue to be Cutlers lead target.Players Off Game Status Injury Report: Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers, hamstring: This is great news. Cobb missed the Week 8 contest with a hamstring injury sustained the week before. In Week 9, Cobb was declared active but remained on the sidelines for the bulk of the game, entering late and notching just two receptions. One happened to result in a touchdown, but it was clear the team was avoiding anything that would force Cobb to stretch the field. This week, Cobb participated in daily practices on a limited basis, and by the end of the week the team was confident enough in his health to remove him from the game status injury report.Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, concussion: Evans now says he didnt have a concussion, but he was placed in the concussion protocol nonetheless. He was cleared for full practice early in the week and there was little doubt he would be ready for the Week 10 game after practicing daily without setbacks. His removal from the game status injury report underscores the teams expectation that he will play his usual role.John Brown, hamstring and Larry Fitzgerald, ankle, Arizona Cardinals: Its a great relief to fantasy owners to see both of these players off the injury report in advance of Sundays game. Brown has been battling some issues related to his hamstring for several weeks while Fitzgerald sprained his ankle just last week. Both were kept to limited practices Wednesday and Thursday. Fitzgerald remained limited Friday, undoubtedly a means of protecting him for game day, while Brown upgraded to full work Friday. Both are expected to play Sunday, but its worth noting that coach Bruce Arians bumped J.J. Nelson up to No. 2 receiver (Michael Floyd comes in at No. 3 while Brown is now No.4). It seems the most consistent option is Fitzgerald, who remains, unsurprisingly, the number one receiver for Arizona.Brandon Marshall, New York Jets, foot: Marshall is on the injury report weekly but is removed for games and continues to play. He will do the same again this week.Tight EndsHunter Henry, San Diego Chargers, knee, (Q): Henry is still bothered by his knee and was only a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday. He was able to upgrade to full practice Friday, and it appears he will take the field Sunday alongside Antonio Gates (no longer on the injury report). Fantasy owners should be aware that this is a late game (4:05 p.m. ET) and should have a backup plan in the event Henry is inactive.Martellus Bennett, New England Patriots, ankle, (Q): Nothing has changed here. Bennett continues to appear on the injury report as he is limited in practice to rest his ankle. He has yet to miss a game, so there is little reason to worry about his status heading into Sunday nights contest against the Seahawks.Jared Cook, Green Bay Packers, ankle, (D): The Packers are excited about the return of Cook to practice after he missed more than a month with an ankle injury. Although he is making progress, he is not quite game ready, hence the doubtful tag. Cook is expected to sit this week out but his return does not appear far off.Players Off Game Status Injury Report: Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans, groin: Last week Walker was a late addition to the injury report , et he played and emerged no worse for the wear. Its a relief for fantasy owners to see him off the game status injury report heading into Week 10 as there are no tough decisions to make. Walker was a full participant throughout the week and is expected to play against the Packers.Jimmy Graham, Seattle Seahawks, knee: Graham was running with abandon Monday night, looking like the Jimmy Graham who used to play in New Orleans. Its great to see an athlete return from a career-threatening injury, not just to play once again but to play at his former level. Although he continues to appear on the practice injury report, Graham is off the game status injury report as usual.Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers, knee: Despite being listed on the practice injury report because of his knee, Gates was a full practice participant both Thursday and Friday. With Hunter Henry listed as questionable, Gates is the favored option (although Henry is likely to play).Players already ruled outThis space is intended for a list of key players, not including those who have been moved to injured reserve status, who are officially listed as Out for the upcoming game.Tevin Coleman, RB, Atlanta Falcons, hamstring: Coleman will now miss his third straight game with a hamstring strain. He has not yet returned to practice, but he has increased his running activity. With the Falcons on bye next week, it appears Coleman could be ready to return in Week 12.Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, foot: Rodgers absence doesnt come as much of a surprise considering he remained out of practice the entire week. He did shed the walking boot early in the week but was wearing it again Friday. It appears he has a ways to go before he can return to action.Jeremy Maclin, WR, Kansas City Chiefs, groin: Maclin tried to play through a groin injury in Week 9 but he didnt last long. After his exit in the first quarter, head coach Andy Reid indicated Maclin could miss some time. He didnt practice all week and has already been ruled out for Week 10.Jacob Tamme, TE, Atlanta Falcons, shoulder: After Tamme was injured in Week 8, head coach Dan Quinn said he didnt believe it to be a long-term injury. Still, Tamme will now miss his second straight game and ESPN.coms Vaughn McClure reports Tamme is considering surgery. It certainly sounds like it could be a long-term injury now.DeAngelo Williams, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers, knee: Williams underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday and is out for this week. The team has offered little in the way of detail or timetable, but one would expect him to be out several weeks at a minimum.Thomas Rawls, RB, Seattle Seahawks, fibula: Rawls has resumed running, but his earliest projected return was bumped to Week 11. He remains out this week.Be sure to check out Fantasy Football Now, Sundays on ESPN2 at 11 a.m. ET, for last-minute inactives, rankings, injury impact and more! ' ' '

Ray Allen, one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, is considering making a comeback, according to league sources.Allens representatives recently reached out to the Golden State Warriors?and?Cleveland Cavaliers, sources told ESPN,?about the possibility of Allen joining the two conference champions. The Warriors are unsure whether they want to pursue the future Hall of Famer, sources said. Allens contact with the Cavs was first reported by Cleveland.com.Allen, who will turn 41 on July 20, is also not absolutely sure he wants to return after sitting out the past two seasons. But he is intrigued by the possibility of playing for another championship, and in addition to the Warriors and Cavs, he would consider joining the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers, sources said.During his 18-year playing career, Allen was known as one of the leagues best-conditioned athletes. That, along with the increased value of 3-point shooting in todays NBA, has led contending teams to pursue him over the past couple of seasons. He averaged 9.6 points for the Miami Heat in 2013-14, his final season.Allen averaged 18.9 points over his career and shot 40 percent from the 3-point line. The 10-time All-Star won championships with Boston in 2008 and Miami in 2013.In 2013, Allen salvaged the title hopes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Heat by making a game-tying 3-pointer with 5.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime against San Antonio in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Miami went on to win the series in seven games. Air Max 97 Uomo Scontate . For the Wild it was their first win of the season and they now have a record of 1-1-2 while the Jets fall to 2-2. HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Carl Edwards latest championship loss might have been even more painful than his first.Leading the NASCAR season finale with 10 laps to go and closing in on his first title, Edwards wrecked while blocking fellow contender Joey Logano on a restart Sunday night.Logano turned Edwards sideways and sent him sliding across traffic at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Kasey Kahne slammed into Edwards rear bumper, lifting the No. 19 Toyota off the ground. Edwards spun, hit the outside wall and came to a stop on the track. Edwards climbed out, stood on the banking -- not too far from his wrecked race car -- and watched a replay on a big screen.Edwards shook his head and muttered damn as he realized he essentially caused the melee.I couldnt go to bed tonight and think that I gave him that lane, Edwards said. The move cost Edwards and Logano.I dont blame him, Logano said. He had to throw the block. Its the only move I had. Im not going to look back at it and second guess that move. I had to do that. Thats the only play I had. ... I understand why he had to throw the block and he understands why I had to make the move because that was for the win. That was the only shot that I had. That was for the race win. Its 10 to go. What do you expect? Its for a championship.Jimmie Johnson ended up winning the race, tying a NASCAR record by claiming his seventh championship. Logano finished fourth, two spots ahead of Kyle Busch. Edwards was 34th. Johnson, Logano, Busch and Edwards were the only title contenders in the finale. We had a few moments there throughout the day that we thought we were kind of on the outside looking in and didnt really see a very good shot of winning it, said Busch, who battled back from a lap down to have a shot down the stretch. And then all of a sudden it seemed like we had a really good shot to win the thing. We were up front and kind of driving away from those guys behind us ... and then we were out of it again.Edwards handled the loss with so much class that several colleagues celebrated him for it.Edwards brushed off a request to take an ambulance ride to the infield care center, instead making the trip on foot. He stopped by Loganos pit stall, climbed up on the box, chatted with crew chief TTodd Gordon and shook hands with everyone up there.ddddddddddddYeah, no apology, Edwards said. I just wanted to say, `Hey, thats just racing and good luck to you guys. Theres so much on the line. I dont want to be anything extra to mess with Joey.Edwards got checked out in the care center and then gave a pep talk to family and friends, high-fiving each of them. It was a show of sportsmanship rarely seen in defeat in NASCAR, especially with so much on the line. He was even more supportive of his team, including crew chief Dave Rogers. They put it in my hands, Edwards said. Thats all you can ask for. ... It didnt work out. This is life. We performed well. We did our best. I just risked too much and Dave told me before this race its a pretty big reward and remember risk gets reward and I just had to push it.Edwards led 47 laps before finishing 34th in the race and fourth in the final standings. But his season will be remembered for another oh-so-close ending.Five years ago, Edwards and Tony Stewart had a head-to-head showdown at Homestead for the title. Edwards, then driving for Jack Roush, started the finale with a three-point lead in the standings and did everything he could from the minute he arrived in Florida. His Roush Fenway Racing team put his Ford on the pole, he led a race-high 119 of the 267 laps and still finished second to Stewart.Stewart and Edwards finished tied in the final Sprint Cup Series points standings -- a first in NASCAR history -- and Stewart took the tiebreaker based on his five victories to Edwards one.Edwards started watching a replay of that 2011 race earlier this week, but ended up turning it off in disgust. He surely wont want to watch this one, which left him still without a championship in 12 full seasons at the Cup level. And as much as the restart ended Edwards night, a late caution caused by little-known driver Dylan Lupton caused as much frustration.I just hated to see that caution, Edwards said. That was very, very frustrating. I felt like that was our race and our championship, but hey this is how racing goes.---More AP auto racing: www.racing.ap.org ' ' '

RENO, Nev. -- Greg Chalmers won the Barracuda Championship on Sunday at Montreux for his first PGA Tour title, eagling the final hole for a six-point victory in the modified Stableford scoring event. The 42-year-old Australian won in his 386th start after entering the week as the active player with the most events without a victory. Its hard to win and Im very thrilled and very pleased to get it done, Chalmers said. It was a tough. I knew today would be difficult. And we had difficult conditions. I was blessed, I think, that guys found it tough just the same as I found it tough.A point ahead of Gary Woodland and needing at least a par on the par-5 18th to wrap up the victory, Chalmers made an 8-foot eagle putt after hitting a 320-yard drive and 230-yard, 7-iron approach. A few minutes earlier, Woodland hit an 8-iron into the right bunker and three-putted for bogey.Quite fortunate that Gary didnt birdie the last, Chalmers said. That would have put a lot of pressure on me.Chalmers had a four-point round to finish with 43 in the system that awards eight points for double eagle, five for eagle, two for birdie and deducts a point for bogey and three for double bogey or worse. He also had two birdies and five bogeys, the last two on Nos. 15 and 17.The left-hander earned a two-year tour exemption, a spot in the British Open at Royal Troon and other perks. With only conditional status, he had split time between the tour and the Web.com Tour this year. The two-time Australian Open champion missed the cuts in his previous five starts on the big tour.Just to get back on the PGA Tour. I cant tell you how exciting that is, Chalmers said. Forty-two years of age, I turn 43 in October. This is a real fork in the road for my career, and its in the right direction.Because of the West Virginia floods that led to The Greenbrier Classic being canceled, a British Open spot was transferred to the leading player not already eligible at Montreux.Cant wait, Chalmers said. Its such a great thing that the R&A and Barracuda here have done for us, even though the circumstances that came about werent the greatest.Woodland, the 2013 winner, also had a four-point round to finish second. Its frustrating, Woodland said. I didnt make any putts coming down the stretch. In standard scoring, Chalmers finished a stroke ahead of Woodland and third-place finisher Colt Knost, closing with a 1-over 73 for a 15-under total.Knost had a 10-point round to reach 35. He has three top-four finishes in his last five events.I stole some today, but I threw a lot away, Knost said. Honestly, all week I just didnt strike it very well. My short game saved me.Tim Herron was another point back after a 13-point round. He was pulling for Chalmers to win. That would be great. That would be awesome, the 46-year-old Herron said while Chalmers was in the middle of the back nine. Hes grinding his butt off. Were kind of in that stage of our career -- should we hang with the family or should we keep going?Brendan Steele and Steve Wheatcroft tied for fifth with 32 points. Not the Sunday I wanted, Wheatcroft said. They definitely changed the golf course up on us. Took us four or five holes to figure that out. Cant imagine too much water went on the greens last night. They were rock hard.Rhein Gibson had the shot of the week, holing out from 175 yards for double eagle on the par-5 18th. He set up the albatross with a 370-yard drive.I hadnt had a birdie all day and just leaking oil, hitting good shots, not doing anything, Gibson said. I hit an unbelievable tee shot there, and had a wedge in. ... Saw it go in. The crowd went pretty bonkers.Barracuda will donate $100,000 to a charity in Gibsons name. The only other albatross in tournament history was by Shiv Kapur in 2010, when the hole played as No. 9.Gibson tied for 25th with 24 points. He and other Australian players showered Chalmers with champagne.I didnt expect that, Chalmers said. And kind of unique, because normally a lot of guys will just leave town. So, for them to stay and do that was kind of special.Chalmers father, John, also was there to celebrate. My father just comes out to travel with me when my mom and my kids and my family are staying back in Dallas, Chalmers said. He just likes to come out and watch golf. He plays. Its good for us as father and son -- hes 72 now -- for us just to bond and chat and solve the worlds problems every night.Chalmers got the last laugh on a Twitter troll, too.Unfortunately, someone on Twitter said, `That guy cant close out. ... Ill be tweeting him back later, dont worry about that. Cheap Air Max Plus China . India women 121 for 5 (Raj 73*, Amin 2-24) beat Pakistan women 104 for 6 (Maroof 25, Bisht 2-22) by 17 runsScorecard Indias dominance in the womens Asia Cup extended as they sealed their sixth title in as many editions with a 17-run win over Pakistan in Bangkok. It was the second consecutive time India had beaten Pakistan in an Asia Cup final, having done so in 2012-13 as well. The win also ensured India remained unbeaten in this years tournament, which was being played in the T20 format for the second time.It was Mithali Raj who set up the win, scoring an unbeaten 73 after India opted to bat and taking them to 121 for 5. The bowlers then sent down economical spells to choke Pakistan in the chase, restricting them to 104 for 6.Raj dominated almost every partnership she featured in. She started off by putting on 24 for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana, who contributed just 6. After her dismissal, it was the turn of Sabbhineni Meghana to play second fiddle as she made 9 in a second-wicket stand of 44. Veda Krishnamurthy and Harmanpreet Kaur, the India captain, were also sent back for single-digit scores, before Jhulan Goswamis late cameo lifted India. Goswami pinged two sixes on her way to a 10-ball 17 before perishing off the penultimate ball of the innings. Raj had struck seven fours and a six in her 65-ball knock.Left-arm spinner Anam Amin topped the wickets column with 2 for 24 in four overs, while Sana Mir and Sadia Yousuf were economical in their respective quotas and took a wicket apiece.Pakistan scored at nearly a run a ball during the first half of the chase, but lost three wickets. Goswami had Ayesha Zafar bowled in the fifth over before Asmavia Iqbal fell in similar fashion in the next over, sent down by Shikha Pandey. Javeria Khan added 28 with captain Bismah Maroof, but could not make her start count as she was snuffed out by Ekta Bisht, the left-arm spinner, and Pakistan became 56 for 3. That third-wicket stand was the highest Pakistan could manage as regular wickets stalled them. Nida Dar and Mir made identical scores of 12 not out in late resistance, but both were kept quiet - neither scored a single boundary - as Pakistan fell short.Indias bowlers shared the wickets around. Bisht, who opened the bowling, took 2 for 22. Anuja Patil, Goswami, Pandey and Preeti Bose took a wicket apiece. Nike VAPORMAX Black+Cherry . Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee? Robredo, ranked No. 16, bounced back from an upset loss to Leonardo Mayer in the second round of the Royal Guard Open in Chile last week to down Carreno Busta in 1 hour, 25 minutes. On a day filled mostly with qualifying matches, fifth-seeded Marcel Granollers of Spain also entered the second with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win over Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia, while Guido Pella of Argentina defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 7-6 (6), 6-4 to advance. Uniteds eighth defeat of a wretched campaign means Liverpool, which currently occupies the fourth and final Champions League place, could go nine points clear of its fierce rival by beating West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Charlie Adam scored both of Stokes goals at Britannia Stadium either side of Robin van Persies equalizer, with a miserable day for seventh-place United capped by first-half injuries to centre halves Jonny Evans and Phil Jones that forced them off. Coin tossing was once a skill seldom required of Irelands captain. The occasional match between Ireland and Test teams stopping off for a quick game during their tour of England followed a familiar ritual: the tourists would always bat - for that is what the spectators had come to see - and would make plenty before Ireland were bundled out in the afternoon, often at the hands of cricketers rarely otherwise spotted bowling. When Australia thrashed Ireland in 1997, novelty acts Mark Taylor, Michael Slater and Justin Langer all took wickets. That was part of the fun.Last Thursday, Malahide was briefly transported back to this age. Ireland subsided to a 255-run defeat, the ninth highest in ODI history. I would expect the players to be embarrassed, former captain Trent Johnston says. If teams get 340 against us and were bowled out for 80, theyre not going to come around and play those games anymore. Theyre going to go somewhere else or stay at home.A few months ago Cricket Ireland unveiled its new strategic plan, emblazoned with the aim: Making Cricket Mainstream. This summer loomed as Irelands busiest ever in one-day international cricket, and a perfect opportunity to show how far the sport has come in the country. But as the rain lashed down in Malahide, forcing the second ODI against Pakistan to be abandoned without a ball being bowled, it encapsulated a dispiriting summer. Seven completed ODIs have brought three thumping defeats in the games against Test opposition, an underwhelming 2-2 draw with Afghanistan, and with it, something worse: the sense that Irelands burgeoning fixture list has arrived with the team in decline.****We were a stronger unit a few years ago for sure, I think everyone would agree with that, admits Ed Joyce, the only current player with memories of Australias visit 19 years ago. This is an obvious irony here: Irelands greater opportunities, which the team has fought so long for, have only arrived when they are less equipped to take them. That is unfortunate, but hardly unusual in the history of international sport, where conservative administration has often reigned: Italys rugby union side was stronger in the years before their elevation to the Six Nations, in 2000, than after; the same was true of Argentinas inclusion in the Rugby Championship, from 2012, although the side has since risen again. No country in cricket history has tried to do as much with so little as Ireland. They aspire to match established Test opposition in all three formats of the game, even with funding from the ICC that is about one third of Zimbabwes. (Afghanistan are attempting to do the same, but also receive significant financial support from foreign governments). The fear is that Irelands romantic dream is imperilling their form in the very format for which the country is renowned. Test cricket is a massive thing on Cricket Irelands radar, Johnston says. I dont begrudge them that, but theyve still got to be conscious of the 50-over and 20-over games because its given them so much in the past through World Cups.Ireland consider first-class cricket their strongest format - Joyce reckons they would be more competitive in multi-day matches than they were against Sri Lanka and Pakistan this summer - but they know it is on ODI cricket that they will be judged. And while their recent T20 form has been dire, Irelands recent ODI record is scarcely any better. That Ireland have so little time together before playing Full Members - players have arrived the day before ODIs this summer - provides some mitigation. Yet their struggles, and a disappointing 2-1 defeat in Zimbabwe last October, also hint at more systematic issues. Weve been calling for more ODIs and we need to play better, Joyce says. We havent played very well since the World Cup. Thats a combination of some poor form and needing new blood in the team. What we lack is pretty obvious. We lack a wicket-taking threat with spin bowling - Andy McBrine and Paul Stirling do a good job, but its more a holding role than real wicket threat. We could do with another seam-bowling allrounder in there. Itd be nice to have some more youth - our fielding possibly hasnt been as good recently. We certainly can beat teams in 50-over cricket; whether we can do it regularly at the moment might be asking too much, but with experience and time hopefully it will happen.****In the 2011 World Cup, Ireland had a top six of William Porterfield, Stirling, Joyce, Niall OBrien, Gary Wilson and Kevin OBrien. Against Pakistan, Ireland had the same top six - with all but Stirling now in their 30s - just in a slightly different order. The golden generation was always going to come to an end, Johnston says. We probably didnt do the development work we needed to in the late 2000s.That is a view shared by Joyce. Weve introduced John Anderson, who is in his 30s as well, and Stuart Poynter, who hasnt really got going yet, so we definitely need some guys to come in, he says. Theres not a huge amount of other guys getting hundreds in Interpro cricket, and theres no particularly new batting blood in county cricket either. Its certainly the best six batters in the country at the moment. The sense of stasis is embodied by how young players who shone five years ago have failed to advance as hoped. Stirling scored two ODI centuries against Pakistan before turning 23, but his recent innings have been a succession of belligerent 20s and 30s that he has failed to convert into something more substantial: since a magnificent 92 in the World Cup win against West Indies in Nelson, he averages just 22.00 in ODIs. His use as a finisher at No. 6 against Afghanistan was both an attempt to reinvigorate him with a new challenge, and to address Irelands reliance upon Kevin OBrien for lusty hitting at the death. Andy Balbirnie and George Dockrell - the former injured, the latter now the second spinner behind McBrine - are others who appear to have stagnated. Most worrying is the overdependence upon Joyce. He turns 38 next month, yet Ireland are more reliant on his runs than ever. Two unbeaten centuries against Afghanistan last month, two double-centuries in Irelands three games in the current Intercontinental Cup, and 955 County Championship runs at 73.46 in 2016 attest to how Joyce is batting as well as ever. But in the five ODIs in which he failed to score a century this summer, Ireland lost by 76 and 136 runss (against Sri Lanka), 39 and 79 runs (against Afghanistan), and then 255 runs against Pakistan.dddddddddddd It is not merely that young talent has been slow to emerge but that formerly reliable performers, like Porterfield and Wilson, are struggling; both have lost their places in Championship cricket, and Niall OBrien has just been released by Leicestershire too.Less tangible than the absence of runs and wickets is a sense that Ireland are no longer as antagonistic on the field, and so a more comfortable side to play against. The side of Johnston and John Mooney, who both retired in the last three years, was swearing, snarling and confrontational; the 2016 vintage is a little meek by comparison. Trent and John were huge players for us: they were very good cricketers as well as being abrasive individuals, Joyce says. The field is a quieter place in their absence. We stood off them and that was reflected in the result, Joyce says of the defeat to Pakistan.****In a sense these struggles simply reflect the underlying realities of the game in Ireland. While the number of cricketers has quadrupled since 2007, to 50,000, it remains less than half that of New Zealand, who have the smallest playing pool of any Test nation bar Zimbabwe. I dont think theres enough quality players in Ireland to make sure we hover around eighth, purely on the playing numbers. We dont have the numbers to justify that, Johnston says. One way of overcoming this paucity of players is through having an inclusive attitude to foreigners with Irish passports, or those who want to qualify to play for Ireland through residency. Yet under Phil Simmons, Ireland routinely featured far fewer players born overseas than many Test nations, and seemed uninterested in potential recruits: Nick Larkin played two seasons of club cricket in Ireland and played two games against Sri Lanka A in 2014, but heard little from the selectors. He has since scored a Sheffield Shield hundred for New South Wales and was named as the Futures League Player of the Year last season. Then there is PJ Moor, an Irish passport holder who played in domestic cricket for three years and was said to be keen on playing for Ireland; a few weeks ago he scored 71 on Test debut for Zimbabwe. The recent selection of Sean Terry, the son of former England batsman Paul, who has an Irish mother, against Afghanistan hinted at a change of approach.Even in a dispiriting summer there has been hope. Barry McCarthy - selected two years late, in Johnstons view - has provided much of it. He is a combative fast-bowling allrounder who has taken 18 wickets in seven ODIs in between establishing himself for Durham. After years of Irelands bowling being their weaker suit, there are other causes for optimism, too, with the emergence of Mark Adair, a pace bowler who has impressed in occasional appearances for Warwickshire, and Josh Little, a 17-year-old left-armer, who can already bowl at 85mph and, fresh from a fine U-19 World Cup, has been likened to Sam Curran by one local coach not normally renowned for hyperbole.Since taking over from Simmons last year, John Bracewell - whose future is beginning to be questioned by some - has tried to change the age profile of the squad, but Johnston would like the pace of that change to be quicker. Maybe there need to be some bold decisions in selection to blood some younger guys and prepare for the next World Cup, he says. Why are these performances happening? We need answers. Its not so long ago that we were ranked in the top ten in T20s and ODIs - so why are we 16th in T20s and 12th in ODIs? Its a question that needs to be answered by Cricket Ireland. To start with, Johnston advocates a new leader in the shortest format. I think it is time for William to step aside in T20 and blood a new leader. Andy McBrine would be someone youd potentially have a look at - hes captained Northwest Warriors, hes a good, tough cricketer.Players like McBrine have to prepare themselves for international cricket without adequate resources to train. Practice facilities are my big worry, really, over here, says Joyce, who is weighing up returning to Ireland for good after the current county season. How often can you get outside with the weather, and if you cant, where do you do go indoors?Changing this is a priority for Cricket Ireland - but so is improving the A teams desolate schedule, making Malahide more than a pop-up international cricket stadium, and helping the womens side build upon their two victories over South Africa this summer. Most conversations about Irish cricket still begin and end with the b-word: budget. Perhaps all this grumbling is just a reflection of human nature: forgetting what we have, and moaning about what we do not. Ireland already have seven ODIs - against Bangladesh, New Zealand and West Indies at home, and two much-awaited games in England - to look forward to next summer. I never think well go back to playing three or four games a year because the infrastructure that has been put in place will make sure that never happens, Johnston says. Its not going to be downhill when youve got guys like Warren Deutrom in charge. Ill always be confident that theyll always be a competitive and very good Irish team.Joyce makes another point: We have a lot more wins than other teams starting out in the same time frame. Ireland have won five matches against Full Members over three 50-over World Cups, while Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, the last three teams to gain Test status, had only won one each before their promotion was ratified. One or two average years doesnt mean were a bad side.Irish crickets hard-won gains will not easily be relinquished, but nor will their lofty ambitions for the game - to make Ireland the European New Zealand - be achieved while the team performs as it has since the World Cup. Ireland and the rest of the Associate world know that the ICCs new-found appetite for giving the leading emerging teams more opportunities must yield results, lest crickets governing elite again be put off the very notion of expansionism. Performances in the coming months, then, are not merely critical to Irelands future, they could also be pivotal in determining the sports attitude to growing beyond the cartel of Test nations. ' ' '

Hampden Park officials have moved to allay fears about the state of the pitch ahead of this weekends Scottish Cup semi-finals. The playing surface at Scotlands national stadium has been relaid since last Sundays Petrofac Training Cup final but Peter Dallas, managing director of Hampden Park Ltd, believes it will cope with Saturdays match between Hibernian and Dundee United and the Celtic and Rangers showdown on Sunday.Dallas told Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday: The pitch is looking excellent. We are very pleased with the installation. The installation was completed on Tuesday night at 8pm. The process started on Sunday immediately after the Petrofac Cup final. We are very pleased with the surface, its been cut this morning and its looking good. We are looking forward to an excellent weekend of football. Its been well documented that there were certain areas where the grass was not developing as well as we expected. We had professional analysis taken on the pitch and therefore we had a decision to make. The overriding factors were that the pitch may have developed over the next few weeks or so, however there was a chance that the pitch may go backwards and might regress. There have been numerous problems with the pitch at Hampden in the past A big decision was made that we should relay the turf - that was a tall order for the installation company. Weve worked very closely with our supply chain and Im delighted to say that all parties came round the table and you can see the magnificent results over 48 hours work. The cost is cost neutral to Hampden Park Ltd. All parties have come together we have a good amicable relationship and we have installed the pitch at no cost to Hampden Park Ltd.We expect that this pitch will play well over the next few weeks and for time to come. Western was last ranked first in the country in October 2011. 9Josh Hazlewood (three matches, 17 wickets at 22.05) The series leading wicket-taker on either side, Hazlewood stepped up admirably in the absence of Peter Siddle and in circumstances where Mitchell Starc was not yet fully grooved into Test match rhythm. His performance in Hobart would have been far more influential on the outcome of the match had Australia scraped an even half-respectable total, and in Adelaide he again showed his affinity for the pink ball and seaming conditions.Usman Khawaja (three matches, 314 runs at 52.33) No-one made more runs in the series than Khawaja, who played a major innings in each Test and, with the exception of an ordinary stroke to be dismissed in the second innings in Hobart, showed a real desire to dig in. While Khawaja prefers to go on the attack with the bat, his willingness to put his cover drive away in Adelaide - where he got a century after opening - was a testament to his growing maturity and reliability.8Mitchell Starc (three matches, 14 wickets at 30.14, one half-century) While not at his best, Starc performed more than creditably in circumstances where any other bowler may not have been asked to play: a matter of weeks after sustaining a deep cut to the left leg. That Starc did was a measure of how valuable he is seen as by the selectors - his ability to get early wickets when swinging the new ball a priceless commodity. Also made his first significant score in more than a year - the kind of contribution he is capable of producing more often.7Steven Smith (three matches, 212 runs at 42.40) Did not have his best match in Perth and was then left stranded by the failures of other batsmen around him in Hobart, but Smith emerged as the kind of leader Australia needs with his passionate call to arms in the wake of the Bellerive defeat. He then played a large part in drafting a new group of players for Adelaide, and led them adeptly with the bat and in the field. Will hope for hundreds and victories against Pakistan.Peter Handscomb (one match, 55 runs at 55.00) A sprightly innings of 54 on debut, a vital catch to remove Faf du Plessis in the second innings and the scoring of the winning runs to wrap up the Test: Handscombs entry to international cricket was hugely impressive. His batting method is far from textbook, but he has strong awareness of his game, and was chosen when in-form, which contributed to his willingness to attack the bowlers when he came in to bat.Jackson Bird (one match, three wickets at 37.00) Should have played in Hobart; then chosen narrowly ahead of Chadd Sayers for Adelaide. Bird responded with several canny spells and the critical wicket of Quinton de Kock on the final day of the series. Still has a tendency to float the ball up to the bat early on, but becomes a far more difficult proposition once he measures his ideal length for a given surface.Shaun Marsh (one match, 78 runs at 39.00) Set a platform with David Warner in Perth that should have been capitalised upon by the rest of the order. But history shows it wasnt, and also that a re-broken finger kept Marsh out of the rest of the series. His return date to the game is yet to be unveiled, but he has every chance to return to the team when fit - although perhaps not as an opener.6David Warner (three matches, 236 runs at 39.33) Started and ended his series with a pair of fine innings but did little in between. Admitting himself that he left a few runs out in the middle at the WACA Ground when first man out after a long partnership with Shaun Marsh, Warner also fell prey to a pair of run-outs and a questionable choice of shot in the first innings in Hobart. That said, his value to the team was underlined by the swift way in which he set about the fourth innings target in Adelaide.Matt Renshaw (one match, 44 runs at 44.00) While he did not make a major score, Renshaws debut contribution was still highly promising. Putting a high value on his wicket and showing a strong awareness for where his off stump is, he demonstrated the characteristics of a career opening batsman with a game devised for the long form. Has plenty of latent power in his long arms, something the Australian public can expect to see more of in the future as his confidence grows.5Matthew Wade (one match, four runs, six catches and a stumping) Seven dismissals for the match, a low score and a veritable mixtape of yapping from behind the stump mic summed up a mixed bag for Wade on his return to the Test team for the first time in more than three years. Showed ssome improvement to his wicket-keeping standards, even if a more natural gloveman would have gone for a catch Wade left to Renshaws left at slip off Hashim Amla in the second innings.dddddddddddd Finished the match on the winning side, as is his recent habit as captain of Victoria.Peter Nevill (two matches, 92 runs at 30.66, seven catches) Victim of a harsh selection call, Nevill responded in the best way possible by clouting a big hundred for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield. Up to that point he had kept well and also fought hard with the bat in Perth. Ultimately he was left out in the expectation that Wade will be more capable of making hundreds down the batting order, an assertion that is yet to be proven.Peter Siddle (one match, three wickets at 32.66) Asked to play in Perth despite limited preparation, Siddle bowled well to begin with but flagged as the Test went on, before scans showed a recurrence of his previous back trouble. Effectively he paid the price for minimal rest between innings due to one of Australias strong batting collapses. Returned to the team in an advisory capacity in the lead-up to Adelaide, which showed his presence of mind as a team man and senior player.Nathan Lyon (three matches, six wickets at 57.66) Bowled well on the first day of the series in a functioning attack, but was then exposed by the poor displays of the batsmen and entered a prolonged drought without wickets. Lyon was extremely close to being dropped for Adelaide, before an injury to Steve OKeefe reprieved him and set him on the path to a more productive finish, again in a situation where the batsmen had done their jobs. Worked well, as ever, with the spin coach John Davison, who had pre-planned a visit for the Adelaide Test.4Adam Voges (two matches, 30 runs at 7.50) Not officially dropped but unavailable due to a sickening blow to the head in the Sheffield Shield, Voges will find it hard to get back into the side now that the selectors tact has changed. Prolifically as he batted last summer, Voges had not passed 50 in any one of Australias five consecutive losses before the team was rejigged for Adelaide. This slid his average back to more reasonable territory, though at a tick over 61 it remains the highest of anyone - apart from Bradman - who played more than 20 innings. Mitchell Marsh (one match, 26 runs at 13.00, two wickets at 50.00) Australias project player for more than two years, Marsh was dropped having not yet lived up to his rich promise. Ultimately his batting was unable to rise to the standard required of a Test match No. 6, perhaps not surprising given the fact he has only scored one Sheffield Shield hundred in his life. Now returned to domestic ranks, Marsh will be looking to hone a method that can work for him and for Australia in the future.3Callum Ferguson (one match, four runs) An eventful and dizzying Test debut after years of waiting was followed by swift demotion to state ranks. Run out in the first innings, then done by variable bounce in the second, Ferguson arguably deserved another chance to prove himself at Test level but fell afoul of a change in selection philosophy.Joe Mennie (one match, one wicket at 85.00) Bowled serviceably on debut in Hobart and took a wicket, but was unable to have enough of an impact on a surface that should have suited his seam-up style and was then discarded for Adelaide. It is open to debate whether Mennie is the leading seam bowler for South Australia - Chadd Sayers and Daniel Worrall also have their claims - and subsequent opportunities may be slim.Joe Burns (one match, one run) Burns brief return to the Test team after he was dropped in Sri Lanka showed signs of mental scars from the previous tour. He certainly did not look technically or mentally capable of helping to turn around the Australian batting slide. He did, however, show his good character and generosity by calling Warner to tell him about his fellow Queenslander Renshaw ahead of the 20-year-olds debut.Nic Maddinson (one match, no runs) A duck on Test debut is no bad thing - just ask Graham Gooch, owner of a pair in his first Test but far more success later on. Madison got a good one from Kagiso Rabada but will need to be more vigilant in defence next time around. Though valued as a potential match winner, he may turn out to be the makeweight for the return of Shaun Marsh whenever he is fit. ' ' '

SPIELBERG, Austria -- Nico Rosberg has received a 10-second penalty and two penalty points on his superlicence for his collision with Lewis Hamilton at the Austrian Grand Prix. The penalty does not impact on his finishing position, but means the stewards felt he was to blame for the incident after failing to leave racing room. Rosberg also received a reprimand for continuing with a damaged car to finish fourth on the final lap.Regarding the collision, the stewards wrote: Having taken note of the extensive evidence given by both drivers and the video and telemetry data, it was apparent that Car 44 (HAM) was in front of Car 6 (ROS) - i.e. more than fully alongside - and that the driver of Car 44 could have clearly made the turn (T2) on the track, if not for the resultant collision. Car 6 did not allow Car 44 racing room and hence the driver of Car 6 was responsible for the collision. In relation to the damaged front wing, the stewards added: Article 22.11of the Formula One Sporting Regulations requires a driver with serious mechanical difficulties to leave the track as soon as it is safe to do so. We do note the extenuating circumstances and the fact that the driver of Car 6 (ROS) did slow down significantly and attempted to mitigate the risk to other drivers and cars. The decisions mean Rosberg retains fourth place (Daniel Ricciardo finished 14 seconds behind the Mercedes driver) and therefore also retains his 11-point lead over Hamilton in the drivers championship. The penalty points are his first of the 12 month period (with 12 resulting in a race ban) and the reprimand is also his first of the season (with three constituting a 10-place grid penalty). The moving ballIn a series dominated so far by batsmen, a fresh morning in Port Elizabeth and a new bowler in Kyle Abbott provided the sort of early movement seldom seen previously. Aaron Finch was nowhere near an outswinger that cut back sharply to pluck off stump. In his next over, Abbott stung David Warner with another break back, this one swinging and then seaming in the same direction to go between bat and pad and flip off the bails. The confrontationAustralias poor start with the bat did not stop Matthew Wade from bringing a typically pugilistic attitude to the batting crease. He met his match in Tabraiz Shamsi, the pair squaring off in a series of verbal exchanges that culminated when Wade ran down the wicket for a single. He ran very close to the general vicinity of Shamsi and conspicuously declined to tuck in his elbow. Faf du Plessis complained to the umpires and Nigel Llong subsequently had a word to both combatants. It remains to be seen whether the match referee Chris Broad will want to have a word too.The sitterAustralias bowlers put in their best shift of the series defending a meagre total, and managed to sustain periods of pressure on the South African batsmen. One of these passages led to a du Plessis skier that floated above Adam Zampa, appearing to drop down for the easiest of catches. But Zampa lost track of the balls flight and let his hands get too low and far apart, leading to a spillage that caused brows to furrow all round. The error looked uncharacteristic - Zampa had claimed a good catch in the deep to remove Quinton de Kock. The chit-chatA further feisty episode took place when Wade was accompanied by David Warner at slip at the start of a Zampa over to Farhaan Behardien. Warner offered up plenty of noise, to the point that the next ball started to be delayed. Once again Llong was seen to get involved, counselling Steven Smith to keep his men under control. For his part, Behardien responded by striking a full-toss to the cover boundary, which rather summed up the day. Wholesale Soccer Jerseys . VIENNA -- A city in Siberia will be stripped of hosting the 2021 world biathlon championships if Russians in the sport fail doping retests of samples taken at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.International Biathlon Union President Anders Besseberg told The Associated Press on Wednesday its possible without problem to reallocate the hosting rights from the city of Tyumen if more Russian doping infringements surface following the revelation of an alleged state-backed doping plot at the Sochi Games.WADA and IOC have commissions working on this, Besseberg said. If they should come up with things that it will be wrong, or as a kind of punishment, that you cannot organize big events in Russia, then there is absolutely no problem for us. We will have a new congress in 2018.The IBU Congress in Chisinau, Moldova, last weekend elected Tyumen to host the competition despite a recent IOC recommendation to all winter sports federations to freeze their preparations for major events in Russia and find host cities in other countries.According to Besseberg, the IOC request from July didnt apply to the 2021 biathlon worlds because its host bidding process had already started.Besseberg said the IBU and other winter sports federations received a very clear statement by the International Olympic Committee at a meeting during the Rio de Janeiro Games last month that all competitions already granted to Russia should run normally, and applications (to host an event) that were in process shall also run the normal way. This was the case for us.Therefore, two IBU events in Russia in the 2016-17 season -- the junior world championships in Ostrov in February and a World Cup event in Tyumen the following month -- will go ahead as planned. Also in other winter sports, no major events have been moved from Russia so far.In a statement to the AP, the IOC said it is aware of the decision of the IBU Congress and will continue its discussions with the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations about the practical implementation of the recommendation of the IOC EB.The IOC announced earlier its recommendation was an interim order through 2016 which its board will review in December.Situated 2,500 kilometers east of Moscow, Tyumen won Sundays election by getting an absolute majority in the first round of voting, beating rival bids from Pokljuka in Slovenia and Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic.Officials from several national biathlon federations, including those of the United States, Canada and Norway, publicly criticized the choice for a Russian venue as it would send a wrong signal in the awake of the World Anti-Doping Agency inquiry report on the state-backed doping plot. When its about granting the rights for the world championships, its the sole responsibility of the delegates from the different national federations, Besseberg said, adding that none of the delegates asked questions or had any remarks during the congress when they were informed by him on the updated IOC recommendation. The voting on the candidates run in the absolutely normal way, Besseberg said.---AP Sports Writer Stephen Wilson in London contributed to this report. Mitch Robinson admits Carltons decision to dump him two years ago will motivate him for the rest of his AFL career.Robinson is in career-best form for Brisbane and will take on his old side on Saturday at the Gabba, a rare opportunity to claim a win for the struggling Lions. The rugged on-baller is averaging 23 possessions per game and is one of the few senior players in Brisbane this season who can hold their head high. Its been probably my two best years of my career up here, Robinson said.Ive used that as motivation and Ill probably keep using it for the remainder of my time up here. But Robinson insisted he was not bitter at the Blues, who delisted him at the end of the 2014 season after a series of off-field incidents.Probably last year was more a little chip on the shoulder and trying to prove Im a good player still, he said.Ive actually been supporting them this year, watching games, getting stuck into it on the TV, all that kind of stuff.Things wont change this weekend, its a big game for me personally but for the club its even bigger.Carlton have lost their past eight games and, like the Lions, suffered their worst defeat of the season last weekend in a 71-point loss to St Kilda. After coach Justin Leppitsch last week conceded he was running out of ways to keep his young players focused, Robinson said he had taken it upon himself to help out.Thats been my role, pretty much. WALTHAM, Mass. -- Clippers swingman Paul Pierce confirmed Wednesday that he plans to sign a one-day deal with the Celtics before retiring after the 2016-17 season.Clippers coach Doc Rivers said last month during a visit to Boston that he had talked with Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and assistant general manager Mike Zarren about having Pierce sign a one-day deal with Boston whenever the veteran elected to hang up his high-tops.Pierce said hes on board with the plan.I would love to do that, Pierce told SiriusXM NBA Radio. I think Ill always be remembered as a Celtic. I had all my glory days, all my prime was pretty much as a Boston Celtic. I think I owe the fans and I owe myself that much, just to be able to put that uniform on one more time and go out that way, say I retired a Boston Celtic.Celtics coach Brad Stevens, apprised of Pieces comments before practice Wednesday, said he hadnt heard any formal plans on the Boston end, but noted, Well cross that bridge when we get there. But hes a special Celtic whose number will be in the rafters.Rivers said last month that a plan was in place for PIerce to retire a Celtic even before he decided to return for his 19th season. Rivers, who coached Pierce in Boston, said it was a no-brainer for all involved.I think its important. I think we have to do that. And I think we will, Rivers said. Danny and Mike, weve already talked. The day [Pierce] retires, hes going to retire a Celtic. He has to. Pauls a Celtic. So when he retires, hes got to retire as a Celtic. I dont think anyone disagrees with me. Michael Jordan Jersey Nike . Luis Suarezs double powered Liverpool to a 4-0 victory over Fulham, and Southampton easily overcame Hull 4-1 to continue the south coast clubs impressive start to the season. Liverpool and Southampton sent Chelsea down to fourth place as the west London club was held to 2-2 at home. NAPLES, Fla. -- Ariya Jutanugarn was unable to accept the CME Globe trophy when it was first being presented to her, needing both hands to hold a big plastic cube stuffed with $1 million in cash.Thats a great way to end a season.Jutanugarns breakout year ended with a haul of prizes Sunday at the CME Group Tour Championship- the LPGA Tours player of the year award, the money title and the season-long Race to CME Globe points competition that comes with a $1 million bonus.A winner of five tournaments in a year that started slowly with a major meltdown in the California desert and turned around with her winning three consecutive starts in May, Jutanugarn held off Lydia Ko for all three of those trophies.I never expected like that much, Jutanugarn said. I just really wanted to win my first tournament this year.In Gee Chun made a 10-footer for birdie on the final hole to win the scoring title by the slimmest of margins, making her the first player since Nancy Lopez in 1978 to win both the Vare Trophy and rookie of the year in the same season. If Chuns final putt had not fallen, Ko would have won the Vare for the first time. Its still been a very cool season for me, said Ko, the worlds No. 1 player, who wrapped Jutanugarn in a big hug when their rounds were complete before heading off to sign dozens of autographs.Combined, Ko and Chun took more than 11,500 swings over 166 rounds -- and the scoring title came down to one putt.It was big pressure for me, Chun said. I just tried to enjoy my last putt. ... It was a big honor for me, to have my name next to legends.Add her to the list of young stars on the LPGA Tour. Shes 22, Jutanugarn turns 21 later this week and Ko doesnt even turn 20 until early next year.Add Charley Hull to that list as well. Shes a tournament winner now.Another 20-year-old -- youth is most definitely served in this era of womens golf -- Hull looked like a savvy veteran as she stalked what would become her first win. Hull finished two shots ahead oof So Yeon Ryu, that margin coming after they had a two-shot swing at the 17th.dddddddddddd Ryus approach came to rest along a 3-foot face of a bunker, forcing her to play off to the side and wind up settling for bogey.Hull made birdie there, then coolly two-putted on the 18th to prevail. She shot 66-66 in a bogey-free weekend, with 12 birdies and 24 pars in her final 36 holes of the season.I was pretty calm, Hull said. I went on the golf course and tried not to think about golf. There were tournaments within the tournament, with many things decided in the seasons final minutes. Player of the year was settled first, when it became evident that Ko -- who needed a win and nothing less to take that title -- was not going to catch Hull. The Race to CME Globe came next, with this being the first time in that awards three-year history that it wouldnt go to Ko.The scoring title then came down to Kos and Chuns final putts, and about a half-hour later, Hull finished off the week and the season by making her first win the tour championship. Its a pretty cool feeling, Hull said. Hasnt quite sunk in yet.Hull finished at 19-under 269. So Yeon Ryu (67) was second, Jennifer Song (68) followed at 15 under, and Jutanugarn (69) was 14 under with Mo Martin (68) and Beatriz Recari (68). Chun (70) was seventh at 13 under.DIVOTS: Ko shot a 10-under 62 on Friday, but her other rounds this week were 70, 73 and 72. She tied for 10th at 11 under. ... Shanshan Feng of China finished her season with a birdie and ended this week 12 under. She had won her last two starts and was eighth or better in her final seven events of 2016. ... Former world No. 1 Stacy Lewis is 0 for 63 since winning midway through what was her second player-of-the-year campaign in 2014. She shot 76 and tied for 42nd. ... Defending champion Cristie Kerr (72) tied for 22nd, 12 back of Hull. ' ' '

CHICAGO -- Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls were pushed by the Orlando Magic in the third quarter, and their response delighted coach Fred Hoiberg.Butler scored 20 points, Taj Gibson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and the Bulls routed the Magic 112-80 on Monday night.Dwyane Wade also scored 16 points and Doug McDermott finished with 11 for Chicago, which had dropped three straight. Wade went 7 for 12 from the field in 25 minutes, bouncing back nicely from a dismal four-point performance in Saturdays 111-94 loss at Indiana. The Bulls held the Magic to 23 percent shooting and 28 points in the second half. Were not going to win too many ballgames if our defense is not doing what it did, Wade said.Orlando had won three straight, but it played listless defense as Chicago pulled away in the third quarter. Aaron Gordon scored 15 points for the Magic, and Evan Fournier added 13 on 6-for-12 shooting.I just think our defense wasnt there, Gordon said. And then offensively, because our defense wasnt there, we didnt execute as well. Our defense bled into our offense.Butler was a perfect 10 for 10 as the Bulls went 25 for 31 at the free-throw line, compared to 5 for 6 for the Magic. The Bulls have made at least 20 free throws in their last four games and five of their first seven. We scored the ball decently well, Butler said. But whenever were guarding we make the game a lot easier for ourselves.Chicago led by as many as 17 points in the first half, but Gordon had a cutting dunk and Fournier made a 3-pointer to help Orlando close to 63-58 in the third. The Bulls then ripped off the next 13 points, and the Magic never threatened again. Gibson, Rajon Rondo and Robin Lopez closed the run with three straight layups, making it 76-58 with 6:05 left.We turned the ball over too much and they made all the hustle plays, Orlando coach Frank Vogel said. If youre going to win on thhe road, you have to make all the hustle plays and you have to take care of the ball.ddddddddddddMcDermott and Butler each converted a three-point play to help Chicago to an 88-63 lead heading into the final period. The Magic shot 4 for 21 in the third and committed six turnovers in the quarter.Thats the defensive mindset that we have to have for the entire game, Hoiberg said.TIP-INSMagic: Nikola Vucevic had 11 points and six rebounds. ... The Magic shot 39 percent (33 for 85) from the field. ... Asked about the discrepancy at the line, Vogel responded: I have no comments, we will discuss that through proper channels.Bulls: Isaiah Canaan provided some energy off the bench and finished with 10 points. ... Butler had seven assists and five rebounds. ... The Bulls outrebounded the Magic 56-39.FAST STARTThe Bulls used a 15-0 run to grab a 37-24 lead after one. The first quarter has been key for Chicago so far this season. The Bulls allowed 20 points in the first quarter in each of their first three games, all wins. They allowed at least 31 in each of the previous three games, all losses. Its as simple as that, Hoiberg said. Need to get off to a good start. When we do that we generally play a good game.COMING UPThe Bulls picked up a little momentum heading into a difficult stretch. Eight of Chicagos next nine games are on the road, including Wades return to Miami on Thursday night after he signed with his hometown Bulls in the offseason.UP NEXTMagic: Host Minnesota on Wednesday night. The Magic have won five straight and 13 of 15 against the Timberwolves.Bulls: Visit Atlanta on Wednesday night. THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Rams coach Jeff Fisher was in a playful mood Monday, joking about the worst scoring offense in the NFL.But if you look at the big picture, were 2-1 when we havent scored a touchdown, he said. So Im not sure why you guys are making such a big deal about not scoring touchdowns. While ending a four-game losing streak with a 9-6 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, Fisher saw signs of progress from the offense, even if it didnt find the end zone.Obviously thats a big deal for us, Fisher said. Its an area that needs to improve for us to make the push we want to make.Running back Todd Gurley would have matched his season high in rushing yards if not for a holding penalty that erased a 21-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Kenny Britt had 109 yards receiving, his second 100-yard game of the season. Quarterback Case Keenum did not turn the ball over for only the second time this season.Still, it was enough because the defense and special teams performed at a high level. Fisher doesnt expect a repeat performance on offense will be enough to break the Miami Dolphins four-game winning streak on Sunday. This week is going to be completely different, Fisher said.On offense, the Rams must try to limit lineman Ndamukong Suh and the other members of a defensive front that Fisher described as extraordinary. The offensive line committed only one penalty against the talented and aggressive Jets, but that holding penalty against left tackle Greg Robinson gave New York one last chance to win the game. Its the things were not doing, Fisher said. We had some big-play opportunities, had some mistakes up front, protection mistakes with people running down the field.Getting explosive plays from wide receiver Tavon Austin could give the Rams a lift. Since signing a four-year contract extension in August, Austin has topped 100 yards from scrimmage just once, in a win at Tampa Bay in Week 3. In his last four games, Austin has just one reception longer than 20 yards, though Fisher said Austins presence is creating favorable matchups for Britt. Its an ongoing process, Fisher said. Were not disappointed because he is a highly talented player. We just need to get him more opportunities. The Rams defense will have to contend with running back Jay Ajayi, whose streak of three consecutive games with more than 100 yards rushing ended in a 31-24 win at the San Diego Chargers. St. Louis could be without two of their top defensive ends -- Eugene Sims is in concussion protocol, while Robert Quinn checked himself into a hospital Monday with an illness unrelated to football. Fisher is optimistic both will be available to play. For three weeks now, were putting a winning effort if you look at the stats defensively, so we have to keep that going, Fisher said. The offense has to keep up its end, and thats no laughing matter for Fisher. We got to get back to scoring, Fisher said. We can do better. Orange Air Zoom Training Shoes . 8 Iowa State on Saturday, sending the Cyclones to their third consecutive loss. DETROIT -- A pair of struggling teams coming off one-goal losses meet Sunday when the Detroit Red Wings host the Calgary Flames at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings (8-9-1) lost 1-0 to the Capitals in Washington on Friday night while the Flames (7-11-1) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night in Calgary.Detroit is 2-7-1 in its past 10 games.I think its only human to get a little frustrated, Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg told www.mlive.com. I think its easy to get frustrated when youre doing good things, when you correct mistakes, youre playing better and you dont get points. But weve got to see the positive in it, too, and stay with it. Eventually we will get our wins.Detroit seemed to play well enough to win in its last two games, but has nothing to show for it.The Red Wings lost 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday on Nikita Kucherovs goal with 1:10 left. On Friday, Washingtons Jay Beagle scored the only goal of the game with 5:11 to play. These are the ones you want to win, or least get to overtime and get a point and have a chance for the two, Zetterberg said after Friday nights game. Leaving here with nothing is hard but weve got to try to see the positive in what we did better than before and keep going from there. The 10-game slide coincides with the absence of left winger Thomas Vanek, who missed the past 11 games with a hip strain. He is expected to return to the lineup on Sunday.I think a lot of the guys will feel some of the weight come off their shoulders with him back in the lineup, goalie Jimmy Howard said. Hes really good around the net, hes really good at deflections, little re-directions.Before Vanek was injured, he led the team with four goals and eight points in seven games. Detroit was 3-7-1 without him, only averaged 1.64 goals per game, were shut out three times and only 5-for-40 on the power play.Hes a big player for us, Justin Abdelkader said. Obviously, he got off to that great start. It was tough to see him go down with injury. Hell come in and bring a veteran presence. Hes really strong on the puck and hes got a great shot.Center Darren Helm, one of Vaneks linemates, is out 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The Flames have injury issues of their own.Star forward Johnny Gaudreau will also miss 6-to-8 weeks because of a broken finger on his right hand suffered in the 1-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.A slash by Eric Staal caused the injury and Calgary said that Gaudreau was slashed 11 times in the game without a penalty call. There are tactics with good players, but when you chop a guy in the hand theres a rule that says you cant do that, Flames general manager Brad Treliving told the Calgary Herald. Were not naive -- do we whack guys, too? Probably. But the frustration comes when that turns into a player being out for an extended period of time. Matt Kemp Jersey .ca! Kerry, Two nights after the Scott-Eriksson incident in Buffalo, the Bruins returned home to play San Jose. In that game, Zdeno Chara put a check on Tommy Wingels that clearly targeted his head.By chance, Ronald "Popeye" Jones bumped into Joe Sakic in the weight room of the arena in Denver way back when. It shouldnt have been a big deal. After all, Jones Denver Nuggets and Sakics Colorado Avalanche shared the Pepsi Center. Jones, a 6-foot-8 power forward, had more than casual conversation in mind for their first meeting almost 13 years ago, though. He told Sakic, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, that he had two young boys who wanted to play hockey and no clue how to help them. "He looked at me all the way up and into my eyes," Jones said. "He saw how big I was. He said, Hes going to be huge. Make sure he knows how to skate." So Jones signed up his boys, including youngest, Seth, for skating lessons. Sakics small piece of advice turned around one boys direction. Now, its Seths turn to return the favour for an organization. The 18-year-old Jones has grown into one of the top prospects in hockey and is the consensus No. 1 pick in the NHL draft later this month. That pick belongs to the Avalanche — now led by Sakic, the teams former captain who was recently promoted to executive vice-president of hockey operations. "All the goals hes set as a hockey player," Popeye said, "hes been able to accomplish." Hows that for a proud pop? Popeye, Seths mother and other friends and relatives will attend the June 30 draft at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Popeye worked last season as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets and lives about 20 minutes from the draft site. Dad was a second-round pick, 41st overall. Seth could be the first black player ever taken No. 1 in the NHL draft. "Im trying to embrace it," Seth said. "Its going to be fun in New Jersey, for sure. I cant wait to share those experiences with my family." It may be a pretty big family reunion in Denver. Jones older brother, Justin, also played hockey and they all got along with Patrick Roys family as they grew up. The Roys and Joneses were close and spent time at each others houses, in fact. And it just so happens that Roy — a former goaltender who also won a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche — was just hired to coach Colorado after the rebuilding franchise missed the playoffs. "Jones is a heck of a player," Roy said. "No matter what the decision for our organization — are we going to keep first overall, are we going to move first overall, whatever were going to do, we know that the team that picks first, second or third are going to get three outstanding players." Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin are expected to go 1-2-3 in the draft. The Florida Panthers hold the second draft pick and the Tampa Bay Lightning are No. 3. Based on talent and need, Jones shouldnt drop past the Avalanche. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound defenceman met with members of the Avalanche scouting team last month before moving on to the NHL draft combine in Toronto. He would become the first American picked No. 1 since Chicagos Patrick Kane in 2007 and seventh overall. In a sport where the majority percentage of players are white, its that slice of history he would make as the first black selected No. 1 — topping Evander Kane, picked fourth 2009 &mdassh; that means so much to both of them.dddddddddddd "I dont think about it too much," Seth said. "Hopefully, I can encourage young African-Americans to play hockey and try it when theyre at a young age. Its definitely a white-dominated sport. But there are a lot more that are starting to play." Kane, Pittsburghs Jarome Iginla, Philadelphias Wayne Simmonds and Washingtons Joel Ward are among the more prominent black players in the NHL. Ward was the victim of a series of racist tweets during last years playoffs after scoring the winning goal in Game 7 against Boston. During a preseason game last year, a fan threw a banana on the ice at Simmonds. Those are gloomy signs that, unlike the other big three sports, tolerance is a still a problem. "Theres never been one racial thing that happened to him," Popeye said. "I think his teammates always accepted him for Seth Jones the hockey player, the great teammate, the great team player. He never put himself above anybody. Theyve always accepted him for who he was and never looked at race." Theyve been awed looking at his career arc, though. He blossomed when he was still in elementary school and played in Pee Wee tournaments in Quebec City at 10 years old. The tournaments, however, were meant for kids 11 and 12. And he has won three gold medals in international play, including this year at the World Junior Ice Hockey championship. So, hes already seasoned, globally, as a competitor. Jones played two seasons in Toronto and was stopped in arenas each time he watched Seth play. "Theyd say, What are you doing in the hockey rink? Whats your kid doing out here playing hockey," Popeye said. "Why arent you at the gym playing basketball?" Jones, who averaged a modest 7.0 points over an 11-year career, realized early on that getting Seth to follow in his sneakers was a lost cause. Sure, little Seth tagged along with dad to the gym and theyd bond watching the NBA finals together. But those 1-on-1 father-son games in the driveway never caught steam and Seth did not play organized basketball growing up. He simply had no desire, because hockey was his passion. "That was all the motivation that I had," Seth said. With Popeye on the road, Seths mother, Amy, steered her son down the right path from home. "Mom taught me everything from how to be a young man, to a handshake, eye contact, all sorts of things," Seth said. "She just wanted me to be respectful." Seth spent more time with his dad when the latter was an assistant coach for a few seasons in Dallas. Seth broadened his worth ethic by watching how tirelessly players like Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Jason Terry prepared for every practice and game all season. "You can tell anyone how to be a pro," Popeye said. "But until they see it with their own eyes, its put a whole new light about what it really takes." Lesson learned. Now its Seths turn to take all hes learned and show a team like Colorado hes ready to make an impact next season. "Its a special category to be put in. Colorado would be special," Seth said, "but at the end of the day, my goal is play in the NHL." That goal is about to be met. India are slowly but steadily becoming like the coolest things in the world: Batmans gadgets. The comics, cartoons, graphic novels and movies take a unanimous stand in depicting them as some of the most resourceful tools ever imagined. It may be too soon to confirm that Virat Kohli and his men could be seen in much the same way. Just as it would be improper not to give them credit for the tough Test cricket they have played since their tour of Australia in 2014-15. Four multi-match Test series played, four series won. And, now, an unassailable lead in the fifth. The way India have gone 2-0 up after three of the five matches against England bears repeating. They lost the toss, their first-choice opener, and the first hour of play in Mohali. They rallied to keep the opposition well under par - Alastair Cook wanted 400, he was stuck with 283. They were patient against high-class bowling. They showed the wherewithal to fight back from a bad situation - 156 for 5 - and finish in a position of dominance - 417. The spinners excelled. The fast bowlers made an impact. And all of this was done on a pitch which wasnt a rank turner. India becoming capable of such performances is the result of the depth in their side.R Ashwin has found a way to make ordinary cricket balls behave like batarangs: going one way for a distance, lulling the enemy into a false sense of security and then taking him out. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav have been fast. Theyve been mean, bouncing batsmen out and harnessing both conventional and reverse swing. They have even stolen the show. Just like a couple of Batmobiles. And then there is Kohli himself. Larger than life. Doing unexplainable things. Always up for a fight. He is this teams Batman. Anil Kumble, of course, is Alfred. An important factor in Indias success is how they have been capable of having and executing plans - and more pertinently, theyve only had to go as far as plans A and B.For example, all the bowlers have tried to probe for Cooks outside edge. The England captain has reacquainted himself with the off stump since his slump in form a few years ago, and so may not be the most forthcoming to nick off to the slips. However, by setting up a routine where Cook keeps dragging his front foot across, he has ended up vulnerable to the ball coming back in. In these cases, the bat would have to come around the pad a little bit, which creates a gap that Shami and Ashwin have both exploited in this series. Inndia are trying not to be desperate for wickets.dddddddddddd They work for them, intelligently and relentlessly. The spinners keep the runs down and the pressure up. The quicks make it a point to be as hostile as possible. All of it culminates in the batsman feeling he has nowhere to go but back to the pavilion. Its great to have the seamers bowl in short bursts, Kohli said. You know, bowl with pace, rather than long spells in the heat. Having quality spinners obviously helps the fast bowlers to stay fresh and come in for those quick spells of three-four overs and try to create opportunities. It has to be done in partnerships, and I think they are combining really well. The batsmen, especially the lower order, have profited by the simplest of methods as well: making sure they stay at the crease. There is no magic as such, Ravindra Jadeja, who comes in at No. 7 or 8, said. The simple thing is that we are focussing more. In the nets, we give ourselves more batting time. We speak to the batting coach a lot and, mentally, we are prepared to take responsibility and try to bat well in difficult situations. That India have not been harassed into digging into their contingencies shows an increase in their skills level. They havent let England get on a roll since the Rajkot draw. They havent panicked. Jos Buttler tried to instigate some panic in the second innings in Mohali, but, sensing his aggression, India made a bowling change - Jayant Yadav - and installed a man on the wide long-on boundary - Jadeja, one of their best fielders - and piggy-backed on Buttlers aggression towards victory.India have met many challenges over the last two years, barring, of course, the dreaded overseas tour where the pitches aid fast bowling. Good stories, though, build up to a clash with the arch enemy. While it seems imprudent to pitch a 13-Test home season, or for that matter the series wins over South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies, as fillers for the climax, it is also impossible not to. Success away from their own shores is what the fans are demanding; it is the caveat that has tagged along with every praise India have earned. This squad, though, gives Kohli plenty of options, and he has shown an ability as captain to enhance their threat. It doesnt seem too outlandish to think that things will change come the next tour. TEMPE, Ariz. -- A blood test Thursday revealed that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown carries the sickle-cell trait and has been listed as doubtful for Sundays game, coach Bruce Arians said Friday.Brown experienced leg pain before Monday nights win over the New York Jets and was diagnosed with sore hamstrings after the game. But an MRI this week didnt reveal any issues with his hamstrings, which led to the blood test. Were investigating on how to help him get better as fast as possible, Arians said.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, sickle-cell trait is the result of one inherited sickle-cell gene and one normal gene. Those with the sickle-cell trait usually dont exhibit symptoms of sickle-cell disease. In rare cases, however, people with SCT might experience complications of SCD, such as pain crises.According to the CDCs website, those with sickle-cell trait are more likely to experience muscle breakdown when doing intense exercise than those who dont have the trait.Brown was plagued with hamstring issues for the last 2? months of last season, which Arians said is likely related to the sickle-cell trait diagnosis.Arians thinks Brown is relieved to discover a potential reason for this pain.I think hes very happy that he found out why his legs are hurting so bad, Arians said. Eddie Yarbrough Jersey . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday. TEMPE, Ariz. -- Carson Palmer is spending a lot of time on his back these days, on the green grass (or fake grass) behind the Arizona line of scrimmage. The Cardinals quarterback is trying to operate behind a patchwork offensive line and the results have sometimes been brutal.Continuity is always included as a crucial element to a strong offensive line. That was the case last season, when the Cardinals went 13-3.Looking back to last year, I think we got through most of the year with the same guys, Palmer said Wednesday. This year, its been the exact opposite. Its been different guys, different spots, different weeks, but thats the game.Last week in Atlanta, the line included two players who werent starters when the season began and a third who switched positions. Only left guard Mike Iupati and center A.J. Shipley are playing in the same spots. The line issues arent the only reason the Cardinals are 4-6-2, but they are a major contributor. The line was a problem at times last season and general manager Steve Keim thought he was taking steps to improve it.D.J. Humphries, the teams first-round draft pick a year ago, didnt play a down as a rookie but was installed at right tackle to start this season. The Cardinals signed Evan Mathis to play right guard and tutor Humphries. Shipley replaced Lyle Sendlein at center. The left side was set with Iupati at guard and Jared Veldheer at tackle.First, Mathis was lost for the season with an ankle injury. Then Iupati was out for a time with an ankle problem. Veldheer went on injured reserve with torn triceps. So enter John Wetzel, who had bounced around a few practice squads but never had played in an NFL game until he started at left tackle following Veldheers injury. Iupati returned and Earl Watford filled in at right guard. But Watford has been benched in the latest shakeup. Wetzel was moved to right guard, Humphries shifted to left tackle and Urlicek John was brought in to play right tackle. The 6-foot-5, 307-pound John was signed off of the Miami practice squad when Mathis was hurt in early October. A seveenth-round draft pick of Indianapolis out of Georgia State in 2014, his only was experience on an active roster before this year was two games in Miami last season.ddddddddddddHumphries has emerged as a bright spot. Called out publicly for his lack of maturity and effort early last season, the big lineman has developed nicely, Arians said. The switch to left tackle has been smooth, the coach said, because thats where Humphries played in college.I couldnt ask for any more out of him, Arians said. Hes run blocking extremely well, at a very high level. Hes had some ups and downs in pass protection, but overall very few mental errors and always gives a ton of effort.Humphries, Iupati, Shipley, Wetzel and John are not exactly a murderers row.But thats the lineup the Cardinals will again go with when they are home against Washington on Sunday.I expect them to play a full game like we played the first three quarters (against the Falcons), and hopefully not get in a position where were down two scores and have to throw it every down, Arians said.Fatigue was a problem late.Arians said Wetzel and John can avoid getting worn out by getting in shape. These guys havent played 60, 70 plays in a long time, he said.Arians thought the teams run blocking was good and the pass blocking mostly adequate, until late in the game.Still, Palmer was knocked around a lot the whole day. He was only sacked twice but was hit 10 times.Palmer, who turns 37 in four weeks, was asked if those poundings might be a factor when he makes his decision to retire.I dont know. Ill have to let you know, he said, adding dryly IF I get there.Game notes Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald didnt practice as a scheduled veterans day off. ... CB Patrick Peterson (knee), cornerback Justin Bethel (foot, knee), WR John Brown (illness) and TE Jermaine Gresham (illness) also did not practice.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL. ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Tyrrell Hatton won his first European Tour title after taking apart the Old Course at St. Andrews for the second straight day in an impressive display of front-running at the Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday. The 24-year-old Englishman, who had a three-shot lead overnight, followed up a course record-tying, bogey-free 62 at the home of golf on Saturday with a 6-under 66 in the final round. He finished on a total of 23 under par (265).Hatton won by four shots from Richard Sterne (66) and Ross Fisher (67) to earn about $800,000 -- easily the biggest pay check of his career. The win capped a strong second half of 2016 for Hatton, who was second at the Scottish Open, fifth at the British Open and 10th at the U.S. PGA Championship. Its a dream come true, and to do it at the home of golf is fantastic, said the 53rd-ranked Hatton, who had two second places and two third places on his resume until finally ending his drought. His performances in the Scottish and British Opens demonstrated his competence on links courses, and his weekend rounds at St. Andrews were clinics.Hatton had three straight birdies at Nos. 3-5 and rolled in a 20-foot birdie putt on No. 9 to open up a six-shot advantage. More birdies came at Nos. 12, 14 and 15, meaning a bogey on the 17th -- after finding the Road Hole bunker -- had little effect and he could play the famous 18th hole with no pressure.I was quite nervous for the majority of the round, Hatton said, but I played really solid and holed some good putts, and that kept the momentum going.Sterne chipped in for birdie at No. 17 and parred the last for a bogey-free 66 -- and a fourth straight round in the 60s this week. Fisher, the second-round leader, stiffed his approach on No. 18 and tapped in for birdie to secure a tie for second.Joakim Lagergren of Sweden shot 68 for 17 under and a fourth-place finish, which will secure his tour card for another season. The Dunhill Links is played over three Scottish links courses -- at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns -- across the first three days before culminating in a final round over the Old Course. It incorporates two separate competitions: An individual European Tour tournament and a team event in which professionals are paired with amateur golfers. Paul Pierce Celtics Jersey GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The No. 16 Auburn soccer team reached new heights when it defeated No. 9 Florida in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 on Sunday afternoon, 3-1. The Tigers (17-6-0) advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history and also set a new record for most wins in a single season with the victory.First, congratulations to Florida, said head coach Karen Hoppa. Theyre a tremendous team, the SEC Tournament champions, and obviously played a great game.Im incredibly proud of our team. I thought we did not play particularly well in the first half. We fought hard and defended well, but we didnt play soccer the way we wanted to and to go into halftime up - credit to Brooke [Ramsier] to get a goal against the run of play - I was really proud of the team and the adjustments they made in the second half.Kristen Dodson, Bri Folds and Brooke Ramsier each notched a goal in the 90-minute affair to guide the offense. Sarah Le Beau went the distance between the posts and made six saves.Playing in front of a raucous crowd of 1,152, Auburn had a shaky start out of the gate. The Gators (17-5-1) put in a pair of dangerous efforts in the opening 20 minutes, drawing one Le Beau save, and controlled the possession early on.However, a counter-attack in the 25th minute changed the whole complexion of the match.A ball that found the feet of Dodson was then pushed forward into a danger area, but the three surrounding defenders were able to get a foot on it.The ball, however, ricocheted off a defender and dropped to the feet of Ramsier. The Dallas, Texas native then blasted a volley from 20 yards away to the far-post corner and found the back of the net.The goal marked Ramsiers second of the weekend and was the 16th point shes secured in her last seven matches.Auburn maintained a 1-0 lead into the locker room and had only one shot - Ramsiers rocket. The Tigers roared out of the break after tallying a pair of shots and drawing a corner in the opening two minutes of the second halff, but were held in check.ddddddddddddIn the 62nd minute, Dodson took a feed over the top of the defense and drew a hard foul in the box that flipped the match heavily in favor of Auburn. The Florida defender was issued a red card and a penalty was given.Folds then calmly took her first career penalty and fired it into the back of the net to double Auburns lead to 2-0.Just 53 seconds later and down a player, the Gators responded by scoring a goal and cutting the margin in half at 2-1.After a plethora of chances for both squads, Dodson put the match away in the 84th minute. The junior picked off a pass from Florida and took on three defenders at midfield. Dodson then saw the goalkeeper was off her line and chipped it up and over the final line of defense from 35 yards away to seal the victory. The Tigers remained compact in the final five minutes and closed out the program-defining win, sending Auburn to its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.Making it to the Elite Eight with this group is incredible, stated Ramsier. Credit to all of us because theyre such a bond this team has and it really is a family. We fight for each other. We go out there and play 90 minutes for each and every girl on and off the field. Its just a crazy feeling and were so happy.Auburn earned its second win in Gainesville this season after topping the Gators 3-0 back in September. In both matches, the Tigers defense held strong, limiting Florida to their lowest two goal-outputs of the season. We just stick together and support each other if we get beat, stated senior defender Kiana Clarke. We cover for each other and pick up after another. We know we have each other to depend on and I think thats a big part of our success today.Auburn makes its historic debut in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Friday when it travels to No. 3 USC.
