Veteran Garth Tander has confirmed he will return in 2017 to Garry Rogers Motorsport, the team with whom he made his Supercars debut nearly 20 years ago.Tander capped off his 10-year stint with the Holden Racing Team earlier in December with pole position and a second-placed finish at the Sydney 500, and strongly hinted at the time his future was already sorted.The 39-year-old will join James Moffat aboard the teams two cars next year, replacing Scott McLaughlin, who has moved to DJR Team Penske.Tander began his career with GRM as a 21-year-old in 1998 and spent seven seasons at the outfit until his move to the HSV Dealer Team, with whom he won his 2007 Supercars title.With Garry Rogers slowly transferring the running of the team to his son Barry, its likely Tander will take on an expanded role when he retires from full-time racing.I have no doubt that Garth will be a serious contender on track, Rogers said in a team statement.As a driver he has a few good years left in him in my opinion and whether thats two or 10 I dont know.There will be a stage when Garth decides to step back from full-time driving and then we would look at maybe endurance races and helping us with our young drivers.I know he has a lot of positives for us, the team and all our sponsor group.
