The Philadelphia Eagles are trading running back DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans after just one year with the franchise. The trade was announced just hours after Eagles general manager Howie Roseman also traded cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins.Financial details of Murrays move have yet to be confirmed, but it is understood that he has restructured his contract and will not lose his $21m in guaranteed money. All three players were big-money signings under the control of former general manager and coach Chip Kelly, who was fired towards the end of the 2015 season.Murray led the entire league in 2014 with 1,845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, helping the Dallas Cowboys to the play-offs, being named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in the process. His exploits earned him a big-money contract in Philadelphia, with Murray signing a five-year $40m deal just a year ago.But he found constant struggles with the Eagles, struggling to fit into Kellys system. Murray ended the 2015 season with just 706 yards and an average of just 3.6 yards per carry. Murray was the NFLs Offensive Player of the Year after an outstanding 2014 season in Dallas NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport also understands Philadelphia are trying to trade their other big-money running back signing of last year, Ryan Mathews, who was brought in from the San Diego Chargers. For the Titans, it means second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota will have a running back who will take a hefty workload in the backfield. It also addresses the Titans long-time need for a running back, after release of Chris Johnson in April 2014. Johnson was in fact the last back to run 100 yards in a game for Tennessee, a drought that stretches back to December 2013.Rapoport notes that it makes it more likely that the Titans will use their No 1 draft pick on offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil to add increased protection in front of Mariota and Murray.
