lio Jones will get a new contract has been bandied about for the last year or so and the issue came back onto the radar when Antonio Brown got a new contract after his trade to the Raiders.Brown is now the highest-paid receiver in the league Youth Logan Paulsen Jersey , but General Manager Thomas Dimitroff acknowledged last week that could change when Jones and the team come to an agreement about Jones’ next deal. On Wednesday, Dimitroff said that there’s no time frame in place to get that deal done while adding that conversations have been positive on that front.“We’ll continue to talk with both Julio and his representation,” Dimitroff said, via the . “We have had really good conversations with them. There is no particular time on that. I’m not concerned about it, nor is he. We’ll get that figured out. … I know there is interest because of everything that’s going on with all of the receivers in the league. There are big numbers [being] talked about and a big situation there. Look Stitched Brandon Fusco Jersey , we feel good with our communications there.”Jones missed offseason work last year and was reportedly set to skip training camp before the Falcons revised his contract last July to give him $2.9 million more money than he was set to make. Jones has two years left on his current deal and is set to make a base salary of $9.6 million this season. The Cardinals are back on top. Of something.Losing to the Falcons Sunday dropped Arizona to 3-11, which in a very specific way is a good thing. If the season ended today, the Cardinals would pick first in the 2019 NFL Draft, followed by the Raiders (3-11). Also, a lot of people would be saying: “Why did the NFL season end after Week 15?”The week’s big losers were the 49ers Youth Brandon Fusco Jersey , who won, and slipped out of the three-way knot of teams with three wins vying for the top pick. A week ago, they were first on this chart and they’re fourth now, having been leapfrogged by the Jets (4-10), who have an edge in strength of schedule (which is the first tiebreaker for draft order). The Jaguars (4-10) jumped to the fifth spot by losing while the Bills and Falcons won.Spots six through 10 would be occupied by the Falcons Stitched Damontae Kazee Jersey , Lions, Giants, Buccaneers, and Bills. The Bills were slotted sixth a week ago, but their win and the losses behind them were costly Youth Damontae Kazee Jersey , since they have a higher strength of schedule number which doesn’t help them in those tiebreakers. While we normally break this off at 10 because it’s such a round number, the Packers would pick 11th at this point based on their 5-8-1 record. That’s remarkable, because it’s not normally where teams picked to win the Super Bowl by some genius like Norman Einstein end up.
ffs - Clifton BrownThe beauty of the Ravens newfound rushing attack is twofold. First Stitched Ronnie Stanley Jersey , controlling time of possession is quite valuable when facing top ranked offenses. And unlike many teams, a Lamar Jackson led backfield has shown an ability to produce chunk plays on the ground, as evidenced by their eight runs of 15 yards or more over the last two games. Can Ravens win and develop Lamar Jackson? Schedule suggests yes - Jamison HensleyThe potential return of defensive difference-makers, specifically Falcons linebacker Deion Jones and Chiefs safety Eric Berry, could make some of these matchups more difficult than they appear on paper.A quick look at the Baltimore Ravens - D. Orlando LedbetterWith an average of 400 yards per game, the Falcons will be the third best offense the Ravens have faced this season Youth Ronnie Stanley Jersey , behind only the Steelers (421 yards) and the Saints (417). Baltimore opened as slim road favorites at most Las Vegas sports books. BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Ravens didn’t force a turnover, scored only two touchdowns and were dangerously close to going to overtime at home against lowly Indianapolis.“We didn’t play our best game,” coach John Harbaugh readily acknowledged.Though the Ravens’ performance Saturday was not particularly artistic, they perceived the final result to be a thing of beauty: Ravens 23, Colts 16.Baltimore (9-6) scored on its first two possessions and held off the skidding Colts (3-12) in a windy, rain-soaked second half.If the Ravens defeat Cincinnati at home next Sunday Stitched Tim Williams Jersey , they will reach the playoffs as an AFC wild card. Striving for its first postseason berth since 2014, Baltimore has won five of six following a 4-5 start.“We found a way to win it. That’s the thing, it’s a win,” Harbaugh said. “It doesn’t matter. You have to find a way to win in this league.”Joe Flacco threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns, Justin Tucker kicked three field goals and the Ravens did just enough to squeeze out a victory.“I wish we had gotten into the end zone one more time,” Flacco said. “It’s not always pretty.”Indianapolis closed to 16-13 in the third quarter before Flacco threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Maxx Williams with 8:40 remaining. It was 23-16 when Anthony Walker blocked a Ravens punt Youth Tim Williams Jersey , giving the Colts the ball at the Baltimore 27 with 2:36 left. Indianapolis moved to the 10 before a third-down sack and a fourth-down incompletion ended the comeback bid.“We had a great chance to win this game,” Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett said. “We just didn’t get it done down there.”Flacco, who went 29 for 38, has thrown for seven TDs with just one interception over his last four games.“We’re a very excited, a very confident football team,” Flacco said. The Colts have lost six in a row for the first time since 2011 Stitched Chris Wormley Jersey , when they opened 0-13. That was the year before they drafted quarterback Andrew Luck, whose absence this season with a shoulder injury contributed heavily to the team’s slide into the AFC South cellar.Brissett completed 16 of 33 passes for 215 yards and Frank Gore had 68 yards rushing and a touchdown catch for Indianapolis. More importantly, the Colts did not commit a turnover against a team that leads the NFL with 33 takeaways.Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals for the Colts, but he had one blocked and came up short on a 60-yard try at the end of the first half.Flacco went 16 for 22 for 157 yards to help the Ravens take a 13-7 halftime lead. After kicking a field goal on its first possession, Baltimore blocked a field goal try by Vinatieri. The Ravens then launched a 71-yard drive that ended with Flacco tossing a 6-yard touchdown pass to Michael Campanaro for a 10-0 lead.Brissett answered with a 14-yard TD pass to Gore, and Tucker kicked a 39-yard field goal for Baltimore after the two-minute warning.Tucker connected from 36 yards out to increase the lead to 16-7 with 5 1/2 minutes gone in the third quarter Youth Chris Wormley Jersey , but Vinatieri kicked a pair for the Colts to make it 16-13.131<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2017Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports | Aaron DosterBLOCK THAT KICKBaltimore’s Tony Jefferson swatted away a 38-yard FG try in the first quarter, the 13th blocked kick by the Ravens since 2014 and their fifth over the past two seasons. It was the first time the Colts had a FG blocked since Nov. 3, 2013. Vinatieri later came up short on a 60-yard try before connecting from 48 and hitting the right upright on a successful 38-yarder.INJURY UPDATEColts: WR Donte Moncrief (ankle), CB Rashaan Melvin (hand) and TE Jason Vander Laan (concussion) were among seven players on the inactive list.Ravens: WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) was on the inactive list. … CB Jaylen Hill (right knee) left in the third quarter and did not return.UP NEXTColts: Wrap up this unpleasant season at home against Houston on New Year’s Eve.Ravens: Seek their first sweep of the Bengals since 2012. The two are expected to compete in training camp for the No. 2 spot on the Panthers’ depth chart. There’s also a chance the Panthers use one of their draft picks to take a flyer on a backup quarterback if they find one they like Youth Sam Mills Jersey , so there’s no guarantee that Heinicke will even be on the roster once the regular season begins.Stay tuned to CSR as we’ll provide the contract details once they’ve been announced. He also got to watch the last 11 minutes tucked safely on the sidelines, as backup Joshua Dobbs enjoyed the longest mop-up duty ever.Meanwhile, their defense kept pressure on Cam Newton throughout the night Youth Greg Olsen Jersey , sacking him five times (he had only been sacked 12 times this season) and picking him off once (with Vince Williams returning it for a touchdown). It was an eye-opener for a team which had won three straight, triggered by coming back from a 17-point deficit to beat the Eagles. There wasn’t much to quibble over or worry about for the Steelers, other than running back James Conner being taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. Now Blue Devin Funchess Jersey , they get to wait to see if Le'Veon Bell comes back by next Tuesday’s deadline. But it’s also reasonable to wonder what they’d do with him if he came back, as they’ve now won five straight and have no apparent weaknesses at the moment.

With Organized Team Activities underway for the purple, it appears that a fan favorite from last season has the inside track to the job.In an article that is, largely, about free agent wide receiver Jordan Taylor, Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune dropped in this little tidbit.Yes, it appears that Chad Beebe is going to get the first opportunity to replace Sherels as the primary punt returner for the Vikings.Beebe spent the first half of the 2018 season on the practice squad Adam Thielen Jersey , and got called up before the Vikings’ Week 9 matchup against the Detroit Lions. He caught four passes for 39 yards last season, but also missed five games with a hamstring issue. He didn’t return any punts in 2018, but did handle those duties in college at Northern Illinois.I know that people thought I made too much of Sherels’ departure when it happened, but I really think that he’s going to be very tough to replace. A lot of people took what Sherels did for granted, and now the Vikings don’t have the luxury of knowing that Sherels and his steady abilities will be going back every time an opponent punts the ball away. Although Beebe has the inside track on the job now, based on the article linked above, there’s still likely going to be some pretty solid competition for it during the rest of OTAs, minicamp, and into Training Camp as well.
NEW YORK (AP) — ami Dolphins coach Adam Gase for their head coaching vacancy.Gase is the second known meeting New York has had as it looks for a replacement for Todd Bowles Dan Marino Jersey , who was fired last Sunday night after he went 24-40 in four seasons. The Jets spoke with Gase on Friday after interviewing Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy in Kansas City on Wednesday.Gase was 23-26 in three seasons with Miami , including a playoff game in 2016, before being fired Monday. The 40-year-old coach worked as an assistant with Detroit, San Francisco and Denver before being promoted to offensive coordinator by the Broncos in 2013 and drawing rave reviews from Peyton Manning.Gase followed coach John Fox to Chicago in 2015 to be the Bears’ offensive coordinator. He was hired by the Dolphins as their head coach the following season. The Jets are also expected to have interest in meeting with former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy Bob Griese Jersey , former Detroit and Indianapolis coach Jim Caldwell, Dallas defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Kris Richard, Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Todd Monken, and USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Ryan Fitzpatrick signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins this month to continue a career that began as a Rams seventh-round pick in 2005.Fitzpatrick has spent time with seven teams and made 126 starts over that span Minkah Fitzpatrick Jersey , so one might assume that we’ve seen just about everything he has to offer at this point in his career. Dolphins head coach Brian Flores doesn’t think that’s the case, however.Flores said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that he thinks Fitzpatrick will hit new heights during his time in Miami.“He’s brings leadership, he brings intelligence, he brings toughness Kenny Stills Jersey ,” Flores said. “We’ve had a couple really good talks. Obviously, I coached against him and I just think he’s a really good player. I’m looking forward to watching him play. I think his best days are ahead.”Fitzpatrick has hit many highs and lows over the course of those 126 career starts and it seems likelier that he’ll continue to be that player than one who has been saving his best for last. Should Flores be correct, though, it would go a long way toward ending any talk about tanking once and for all.
loy defensively and how they should plan for the Patriots’ weapons."The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots Super Bowl is ready as both teams are likely to have gameplans in place already. Both sidelines contain legendary coaches Greg Gaines Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , so this game should be a chess match between two groups that have both shown the ability to adjust and attack relentlessly.Let’s take a look at what Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips and the Rams’ defense should look at doing:TE Rob GronkowskiGronkowski hasn’t actually had a ton of production in the postseason as he only has seven receptions for 104 yards and no touchdowns. Now, it doesn’t really mean much, because Gronk has proven to be a deadly weapon time-and-time again. Luckily for the Rams, they do possess a rising star on the defensive side of the ball that’s generally had success covering tight ends in man coverage all year, and that’s SS John Johnson III. My opinion on what the Rams should initially start with is just that: let Johnson cover Gronk in man coverage and evaluate as the drives go. If he continues to succeed, let Johnson do it all game. If he shows a propensity to struggle, adjust the gameplan. For me, if Johnson’s coverage ability in man proves to falter, the first move I’d try is to move a cornerback on Gronk. The Rams did actually use CB Marcus Peters in coverage on Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce back when they played midseason, so that could be a distinct possibility. The last option to cover Gronk (if both fail) is to simply bracket cover him like they did against New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas last week. I also get that Gronk hasn’t scored a touchdown yet Los Angeles Rams Jerseys Stitched , but I do understand his potent ability down in the redzone which is why I would consider bracketing him down there just like the Rams did against Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz.WR Julian EdelmanEdelman is a well known issue as he’s one of the most productive receivers in NFL playoff history. This season continues that trend, as in two games he’s accumulated 16 receptions for 247 yards and zero touchdowns. Edelman operates out of the slot most of the time, surely proving to be the biggest threat when it comes to the Rams defensively. The Patriots are a great team with a diverse set of weapons, but none is more of a combo of dangerous and reliable than Edelman. As soon as the sticks read “third down”, it’s time to key in on the chain mover who operates over the middle of the field. Much has been discussed about Rams’ nickel CB Nickell Robey-Coleman over the past 10 or so days, but nobody is talking about the assignment he’s going to draw in the biggest game of the season. I would strongly consider bracket covering Edelman on every third-and-medium (seven or more yards) or longer, because the defense needs to get off the field when given a chance.Run GameThe Patriots have a diverse running game which mainly includes power-running concepts, as opposed to a zone-based scheme like the Rams. The Patriots’ offense is averaging 165.5 rushing yards-per-game, also averaging 4.0 yards-per-carry. Like the Rams, the Patriots like to gash teams on the ground and then swing for the fences through the air. Unlike the Rams Greg Gaines Jersey nfl draft , the Patriots do it more traditionally. They will get under center and run out of I-Form, they will deploy a fullback doing it, and they will run power right at you. The key give away is a ton of pulling lineman, trap-style runs, counter runs, and a whole lot of power. The Rams’ front-seven needs to be disciplined more than ever in this game. Trust your eyes, read your keys properly, and watch the pulling offensive lineman. The one major positive I see here for the Rams is if the Patriots do eventually pull a lineman that’s lined up head-on DT Aaron Donald, it could pose trouble. Donald has proven many times that his explosion, athleticism Womens Greg Gaines Jersey , and speed allow him to knife into backfields and drag down ball carriers from the backside of plays. The RemainingWell, you know where we’re headed here, right? RB James White is a problem, and everyone should know it at this point. In the postseason thus far, White has 19 receptions for 146 yards and zero touchdowns. Though the Patriots will occasionally run the ball with White out of a shotgun formation (mainly when QB Tom Brady checks into it), he’s a wide receiver coming out of the backfield — it’s really that simple. White is as good as a route runner as you’ll find at the “running back” position, and although he doesn’t possess size or a ton of speed, his sweet feet and crisp routes almost always leave him open. The Rams most likely to cover White are going to be the ILB duo of Cory Littleton and Mark Barron. These guys are going to need to not only cover White in open space, but they’ll need to ensure good tackling in the open field when necessary. I wouldn’t be against bracketing White like the Rams did against New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara at times, though I prefer that extra attention to be spent on Edelman. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rams’ defensive lineman chip White coming out of the backfield (again Authentic Greg Gaines Jersey , like Karama last week), or to see S Lamarcus Joyner draw him a handful of times in man coverage either. The matchups are obviously going to be crucial in deciding who’s going to win the game. It’s a given that ideally you want to stop the run, force the opposing offense into playing behind the chains, and then pinning your ears back and roughing up the QB. Those are going to be universal keys to win every single game you play, but I mainly wanted to look at the weapons the Rams will face and how they can ideally win those matchups. What’s your keys defensively? ATLANTA (AP) — The Latest on Super Bowl 53 (all times EST):7:20 p.m.The Los Angeles Rams opted to practice outside on the grass fields at the Falcons’ training facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The weather cooperated and coach Sean McVay was happy with the decision.“It really was (the plan to go outside),” McVay said. “We were flexible with it, but I think just having the ability to go outside and get on this surface, we felt like it was going to be a little bit better on our bodies, and the weather allowed us to do that Todd Gurley Jersey , so it was a great day.”The NFC champions started with a walk-through before stretching and then held a 1-hour, 10-minute practice. The sun set and the temperature dropped to 47 degrees by the time the Rams finished at 6:06 p.m.“Yeah, it went down quick,” McVay said. “That was why we were trying to stay on a tight schedule. We got a lot of good work in, a lot of things we can coach off of. The main thing was I thought the guys came out and competed the right way and gave us a chance to get better today.”McVay called it a spirited practice.Kicker Greg Zuerlein (left foot) and safety Blake Countess (foot) both were limited. Zuerlein did not kick, but will on Friday.“The plan all along has been for him (to kick) tomorrow,” McVay said. “We’re right on track. SEATTLE (AP) — San Francisco's Richard Sherman that he was witness to watching Seattle's Russell Wilson throw five interceptions in one game.He didn't see Wilson throw any interceptions on Sunday. Instead Dwight Clark Color Rush Jersey , he watched Wilson throw four touchdowns and the Seahawks stay in the middle of the NFC playoff race with a 43-16 blowout win over the 49ers.Wilson tossed three first-half touchdowns on just four completions as the Seahawks (7-5) won their third straight game, jumping to a 20-0 lead and beating the 49ers for the ninth straight time. "We didn't throw it that much but we were able to make some huge plays when we did," Wilson said.Seattle won't be NFC West champs after the Los Angeles Rams clinched the division on Sunday. But the Seahawks continue to make a case they will be part of the NFC playoff field. And Wilson continues to play with an efficiency that may be the best of his career.Wilson wasn't asked to do much in the first half, but the little he did found the end zone. He hit Jaron Brown on a 4-yard TD pass in the first quarter, found Tyler Lockett for a 52-yard score and connected with Doug Baldwin on a 1-yarder. According to Sportradar, Wilson throwing three touchdowns on four completions made for the fewest TDs/completions in a first half dating to 1991. The previous low was six.Wilson finished 11 of 17 for 185 yards and has thrown at least two touchdowns in eight straight games. It was the eighth time in the regular season Wilson has thrown four or more TD passes. His last came on an 18-yard strike to Brown early in the fourth quarter after he broke free from Sherman's coverage.Wilson has 29 touchdown passes and five interceptions on the season. Rashaad Penny added a 20-yard run on the first offensive play of the second half following an 84-yard kickoff return by Lockett for a 27-3 lead."It's phenomenal that he's able to continue to execute those plays and the receivers are doing a fantastic job," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said.Bobby Wagner capped a blowout with a 98-yard interception return touchdown https://www.49ersfanshop.com/Aaron-Burbridge-Jersey , the first of his career and the longest in franchise history. It was a big day for Seattle's defensive leader, including a forced fumble and recovery in the first half ripping the ball away from San Francisco running back Jeff Wilson Jr. at the Seattle 5. He then stepped in front of Nick Mullens‘ pass near the goal line and outran the rest of the 49ers for the longest interception return in team history. Most of the attention centered on Sherman's first game back in Seattle after spending seven seasons with the Seahawks before being released and signing with the 49ers (2-10) last March. He greeted former teammates during pregame warmups — even giving a brief handshake and hug to Wilson — and then had a mostly uneventful return. Early in the third quarter Wilson hit Baldwin on a short route and Sherman's close friend shook off the tackle attempt and raced 21 yards for a first down.Sherman downplayed his return. He spent several minutes on the field postgame exchanging jerseys with Baldwin."I'm a ballplayer and at the end of the day the field is the same length and everything else is the same," Sherman said. "You just go out there and play your game and try to give your team the best chance to win, and unfortunately we didn't get the win today." Dante Pettis had two touchdown receptions , including a 75-yard catch early in the fourth quarter, for San Francisco. Mullens was 30 of 48 for 414 yards.CELEBRATION TIMESeattle's wide receivers had plenty of chances to work on their touchdown celebrations. The first after Brown's 4-yard catch in the first quarter was a nod to Sherman and Seahawks history. The group created a re-enactment of the famous tip play by Sherman in the 2013 NFC championship game against the 49ers. Late in the fourth quarter, Sherman tipped an end zone pass from Colin Kaepernick into the arms of Malcolm Smith for an interception that secured Seattle's berth in the Super Bowl. Brown was the quarterback on the play ‘s re-enactment. Baldwin played the role of Sherman and David Moore was in the role of Smith Kyle Juszczyk Jersey , who is also playing for the 49ers."We thought it'd be nice to give him a tribute if we had the opportunity to do so. I know it's kind of weird. We're scoring. He's on the other team. We're doing a tribute, but that was in our hearts this week," Baldwin said. They capped their day of celebrations with the "Macarena " following Brown's second TD.INJURIESSeattle may have suffered a significant loss when guard D.J. Fluker had to be helped to the sideline early in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. Carroll said it was a significant pull. Fluker has been a key part of Seattle's run-game resurgence and appeared very angry on the field about the injury. He did not return and left the field on a cart.Seattle running back Chris Carson suffered a dislocated finger in the fourth quarter but wasn't deemed significant.San Francisco starting RB Matt Breida played only sparingly. be able to afford to keep Tre Boston in free agency."While it seemed unlikely that the Arizona Cardinals were going to re-sign Tre Boston Stitched Justin Pugh Jersey , the new contract for Eric Reid from the Carolina Panthers may have set the price pretty far outside of the Cardinals price range if they did want to bring him back.Reid signed a three-year $22 million contract with the Panthers and that has set the market. That would mean the Cardinals would need to find a way to pay another member of their secondary over $6 million a season. Not just another member of the secondary, but another safety.Maybe if you’re bringing in a high end cornerback, but a safety who was good last year, but not All-Pro type seems a terrible way to deal with the remains cap space. That could be excellent foresight by Steve Keim to see a potential spike in the safety market after it dropped off last year so drastically. Meaning bringing in D.J. Swearinger at $4.5 million, who was better in 2018 than either Reid or Boston, was the savvy move for the Cardinals heading into 2019.Either way, it looks like Boston will not be in Cardinal red in 2019. FLOWERY BRANCH Youth Matt Ryan Jersey , Ga. (AP) — Bryant for a tryout Friday, turning to their kicker of the last 10 years to address a big concern during the preseason. The Falcons parted with the 44-year-old Bryant during the offseason in a cost-cutting move and turned the kicking job over to Giorgio Tavecchio, who was perfect on five field-goal attempts and eight extra points while filling in for the injured Bryant in 2018.But Tavecchio struggled during the preseason, prompting the Falcons to sign Blair Walsh. Both kicked in Thursday night’s final preseason game at Jacksonville: Tavecchio missed his only field goal try from 53 yards, while Walsh connected from 46 yards but had another attempt blocked.General manager Thomas Dimitroff says Bryant would be at the team’s training facility for an afternoon workout amid speculation that a deal is all but done. None of those are impossible games—having the Rams at home helps—but they are tough, and the Falcons will be in excellent shape if they can come out of the first half of the year relatively unscathed. Their bye then leads into all six of their divisional games paired with a home tilt against the Jaguars and road game against the 49ers.Aside from the Bucs, potentially, and the Cardinals, there are no easy games on this schedule. There’s also very few that I’d pencil in as definite losses at the moment, as crazy as that might sound after last year, making this a slate that’s navigable if the Falcons are improved and healthy. That’s hardly a given, but so long as the NFC South isn’t a juggernaut this year, I feel good about Atlanta’s chances. We still have the NFL Draft coming up on April 25, 2019, but after looking over the Falcons 2019 schedule, what are your record predictions? Let us know in the comments below!
CHARLOTTE Youth Tavon Young Jersey , N.C. (AP) — am Newton to a “fast dinosaur” this week.“Muscular and big,” Weddle said. “He’s a very unique quarterback in the league, the only one really like him.”The Ravens’ defense ranks first in the league overall, but they’ve not faced a dual-threat quarterback such as Newton, which adds some intrigue to what should be a physical game Sunday between two teams that pride themselves on playing great defense and ball-control offense.Weddle said when Newton gets loose, bringing him down calls for a player to proceed at his own risk. He chose the Triceratops as the kind of dinosaur that best represents Newton.“The big one with horns,” Weddle said.Newton is the NFL’s all-time leader in touchdowns rushing by a quarterback and is third all-time in yards rushing with 4,577. He needs 352 yards to pass Randall Cunningham for second place. Mike Vick is No. 1 with 6,109 yards.“Amazing player, extremely difficult in the open field,” Weddle said of Newton.Newton laughed at Weddell’s compliment, saying it’s not the first time someone has called him that. The 2015 league MVP said Trooper Taylor, a former assistant at Auburn, used to call him that when he was playing for the Tigers.“I always asked him, ‘Why do you call me a dinosaur?'” Newton said. “He said, ‘Your talent is extinct. They don’t make them like you no more.’“I always laughed, but if you look around this league — and I’ve tried to warn a lot of people prior, too — it not cocky, it’s not confidence Stitched Brandon Carr Jersey , it’s just self-belief in yourself knowing that the talents that you possess, a lot of people can’t say that they have.”Newton has run for 252 yards and a team-high three touchdowns this season while averaging 4.9 yards per carry for Carolina (4-2). He’s also thrown for 11 TDs.Things to watch in Sunday’s game between the Ravens and Panthers:RUNNING ROOKIENewton won’t be the only quarterback on the field to be a threat to run.Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson has proven effective as an occasional replacement for Joe Flacco in short-yardage situations for the Ravens (4-3). The former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft pick scored his first NFL touchdown last week and ranks second on the team with 103 yards rushing.Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly said Jackson “is a playmaker who creates problems because of his speed and athleticism” and that “it’s important to know where he is on the field.”Harbaugh often wrestles with finding the right time to use Jackson because Flacco is having such a good season with 11 touchdown passes and four interceptions.“It’s more an art than science,” Harbaugh said. “Joe is playing at a very high level. We don’t want to lose sight of that. We try to do the best we can to put both those guys in there in ways that help us score points and move the ball.”COVERING TIGHT ENDSThe Ravens drafted Hayden Hurst in the first round figuring he would play a major role on the offense, but a foot injury has limited him to one catch for 7 yards. Now rounding back into good health, he may have an opportunity to break out this week against a Carolina defense that has struggled covering tight ends.Carolina has allowed the sixth-most passing yards to tight ends in the NFL at 79.6 per game. Last week, Philadelphia’s Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert combined for eight receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown.Coach Ron Rivera said he was unconcerned with those numbers, adding that he feels as if the Panthers have done a good job against opposing wide receivers this year, which has been their focus. Rivera added that “I don’t think for the most part you’re going to get killed by tight ends.”STELLAR PASS RUSHERSSunday’s matchup features two stellar pass rushers with Carolina’s Julius Peppers and Baltimore’s Terrell Suggs. Peppers has 156½ sacks, which is fourth all-time and the most among active players. Suggs is 15th all-time with 131 sacks.“Those kinds of guys are just on a different level athletically,” Harbaugh said. “There aren’t very many of those types of human beings walking around on the planet.”CLOSE CALLSTwo of the Ravens’ losses this season have come by a combined four points. Cleveland won with a field goal in overtime, and the Saints prevailed when Justin Tucker misfired on a conversion with 24 seconds last week.So what’s it take to win those kinds of games?“You have to make a closing play somewhere along the way,” Harbaugh said. The Panthers seem to have that skill. Their past two wins were 33-31 over the Giants and 21-17 last week.EXTRA POINTSTucker’s extra point miss last week was big for the Ravens, but he’s not the only one struggling with the point after.Carolina’s Graham Gano has missed extra points in back-to-back weeks. Strangely enough, Gano is 8 of 8 on field-goal attempts, including a game-winner from 63 yards against the Giants. Another day full of picks, picks, and more picks. Let’s break it down. EDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: Grading every AFC North pick from Rounds 2 & 3 Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsThe first round of the NFL draft tends to make all the headlines, but it’s rounds two and three where teams really make their mark and fill multiple roster needs. This was the case for the Ravens, Steelers, Browns, and Bengals, all of which were extremely active on Friday night. There was a total of six picks within the AFC North in the second and third rounds, with each of the four teams making two selections. Cleveland finally got in the action after not having a first-round pick, while Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh continued to add talent. How did each team fare with their selections? Check out some grades below and be sure to share your thoughts. Also, stay tuned for more grades to come tomorrow! Cleveland Browns Pick #46, Round 2: Greedy Williams, CB (LSU)Power moves only. After seeing the Ravens select Marquise Brown in the first round, the Browns traded up three spots to select Greedy Williams, who, in my estimation, is the best overall corner in this draft. Williams isn’t a very good tackler but in terms of covering opposing receivers, he has all the tools to be successful. Williams is 6’2”, ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the combine and has great length. John Dorsey got incredible value here. Grade: A+ Pick #80 Stitched Tony Jefferson Jersey , Round 3: Sione Takitaki, LB (BYU) This might be a bit of a reach, as Sione Takitaki was projected by many to go somewhere between rounds 4-6. Much like his name, Takitaki’s effort level is above-average and he possesses good size for the position (6’1”, 238 IBS). His spotty coverage/tackling ability and lack of elite athleticism makes him hard to project at the next level, however. He’s also run-ins with issues off the field despite being a team captain at BYU. At the very least, Takitaki plays extremely hard and will carve out a role on special teams.Grade: C+ Baltimore Ravens Pick #85, Round 3: Jaylon Ferguson, EDGE (Louisiana Tech) Many wanted the Ravens to trade into the second round or acquire an early third-round pick to address one of their biggest needs: pass-rusher. Instead, they stood pat and landed a prospect many thought would be off the board in the second round, Jaylon Ferguson. The NCCA’s all-time leader in sacks, Ferguson wreaked havoc at Louisiana Tech and as we’ve seen in the past, the Ravens love pass-rushers who were productive in college. Ferguson is a solid athlete with good technique. Getting him here is great value and fills a huge position of need. Grade: A- Pick #93, Round 3: Miles Boykin, WR (Notre Dame) As many expected, the Ravens double dipped at the wide receiver position by trading up for Miles Boykin in the second-half of the third round. In doing so, they swapped picks with the Minnesota Vikings (No. 103 for No. 93) and attached two additional late-round selections (No. 191 & No. 193). It’s hard to knock them for this move. Boykin is 6’4” and ran a 4.42 40-yard dash time at the combine. He’s a well-rounded receiver with above-average blocking ability, and his ability to make contested catches is an ideal complement to Marquise Brown. Grade: B+ Cincinnati Bengals Pick #52, Round 2: Drew Sample Youth Tony Jefferson Jersey , TE (Washington) This one is a bit of a head-scratcher. The Bengals just re-signed Tyler Eifert to a one-year deal and also have C.J. Uzomah on the roster. Eifert is coming off a gruesome leg injury and can’t seem to ever stay healthy, though, and Uzomah isn’t exactly the most ideal option. Drafting a tight end is a need for Cincinnati, but selecting Drew Sample here isn’t very good value. Sample is more of a blocking tight end than a pass-catcher and while the Bengals need a good blocker at the position in Zac Taylor’s scheme, but they didn’t need to exhaust the 52nd pick on one. Grade: C- Pick #72, Round 3: Germaine Pratt, LB (N.C. State) The Bengals have needed some help in the second level of their defense for quite some time, especially after their D was historically bad in 2018-19. Landing Germaine Pratt here in the third round is a great step in the right direction. Pratt is rangy and possesses legitimate sideline-to-sideline speed. He has experience playing safety, too, which is always a plus. Cincinnati gets good value here while addressing a roster need.Grade: B+Pittsburgh Steelers Pick #66, Round 3: Diontae Johnson, WR (Toledo) The Steelers needed to find another wide receiver with Antonio Brown no longer in the picture, and they grabbed a very Brown-esque player here early in the third round. Like Brown, Diontae Johnson is an agile and shifty receiver with great hands. He’s not the fastest player at the position but compensates with superb route-running ability. Pittsburgh seems to be capable of turning any wideout into a productive player and Johnson figures to be yet another solid playmaker for them. Grade: B+ Pick #83, Round 3: Justin Layne, CB (Michigan St.) Like Greedy Williams, Justin Layne is a cornerback prospect who shouldn’t have slid as far as did. The Steelers need secondary help and Layne will provide it, both by making an impact in the short-term and serving as Joe Haden’s replacement. Layne is fundamentally sound and has good ball skills. Great pick here in the middle of the third round for Pittsburgh. Grade: A
d he has no issue with safety Eric Reid‘s decision to continuing kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against social injustice. But even if Rivera did have an issue with it Youth Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , Reid says he’d continue to do what he believes is right by kneeling.“Very respectfully, he doesn’t have a choice,” Reid said of Rivera’s support, via David Newton of ESPN.com. “He’s entitled to his opinion, but I know what my rights are. His family was a military family much like many of my people were in the military. My cousin just got back from Afghanistan. My mom was in the armed services. My uncle was enlisted. So I get encouragement from my family that served in the armed forces because they agree with what I’m saying.”Reid was one of the first players in the NFL to join Colin Kaepernick by kneeling during the national anthem as a means of shining a light on injustice in the country. While Kaepernick has yet to find a team willing to give him a job once his time with the San Francisco 49ers came to an end following the 2016 season Stitched Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , Reid managed to find a home with the Panthers in late September.Reid has continued the protest in each game he’s played in Carolina since joining the team. He’s also sparred with Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins over the Players’ Coalition and what he believes is a group that “co-opted” Kaepernick’s movement.Reid has started all four games he’s played with the Panthers. He has 24 tackles and a sack on the year. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Panthers are looking to find ways to get the ball into Christian McCaffrey’s hands as much as possible this season. It’s easy to see why.The second-year back had 120 yards from scrimmage in the first half, including a 71-yard touchdown run as Carolina defeated the Miami Dolphins 27-20 Friday night in a preseason game.McCaffrey had 92 yards rushing on five carries and caught four passes for 28 yards for Carolina (2-0).Panthers coach Ron Rivera recently said he wants to get McCaffrey “25-30 touches” per game this season and find ways to get him the ball in space. On the second play from scrimmage, McCaffrey slipped through a big hole up front and then shifted to another gear outracing several defenders to the end zone.“I saw a heck of a gap,” McCaffrey said. “The offensive line did a great job. … It’s just my job to hit the hole Youth Donte Jackson Jersey , find the crease and go. It was a great play.”It’s the type of big play the Panthers were missing from McCaffrey last season — his longest carry went for 40 yards — and one of the reasons offensive coordinator Norv Turner was brought in to replace Mike Shula.Rivera said the Panthers have always believed the 5-foot-11, 205-pound McCaffrey has what it takes to run between the tackles based on what he did at Stanford.“We feel like he has the kind of quickness that he can pop one and make something happen,” Rivera said.” So we are very comfortable and confident with what we think he can do.”Cam Newton overcame an early interception and two sacks by Robert Quinn to finish 9 of 12 for 89 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown pass to speedy rookie tight end Ian Thomas to give Carolina a 13-9 lead before exiting near the end of the first half.Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill was an effective 14 of 17 for 100 yards despite playing without wide receivers DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills, but the Dolphins (0-2) struggled to finish drives and settled for three field goals in the first half. Kenyan Drake had 54 yards rushing on eight carries.“We’re moving the ball but we’re getting field goals Stitched Donte Jackson Jersey ,” Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. “We had a great opportunity after a turnover to put it in the end zone and we didn’t do it; we had negative plays (and penalties). We have a lot of things to clean up.”Gase did like what he saw out of the Dolphins pass rush, particularly from Quinn .“That was one of our problems last year when we came here,” Gase said. “We couldn’t get the quarterback down. I thought the guys harassed (Newton) and did a good job of causing some pressure.”Miami’s only touchdown came with 29 seconds left when fourth-string quarterback Bryce Petty scored on a 15-yard run.THOMAS TIMEFor Carolina, Thomas could be Carolina’s next big producer on offense. He’s been having a good training camp and the 260-pounder showed impressive speed catching a pass from Newton on a crossing route and turning up the right sideline with a head of steam and racing to the end zone untouched.“It felt good knowing that my teammates had confidence in me in running the play and showing the fans what they can expect for the season,” he said.NATIONAL ANTHEMDolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson took a knee and Quinn held up his right hand during the national anthem. Last week in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay Youth DJ Moore Jersey , Wilson kneeled and Quinn stood and raised his right fist.HANGING OUT WITH FANSNew Panthers owner David Tepper tailgated outside the stadium with fans prior to his first home game. Tepper, who bought the team from Jerry Richardson for $2.2 billion earlier this summer, was seen out and about with fans wearing shorts, a Panthers golf shirt and sneakers while enjoying a beverage. Swearinger Jersey , until the Cardinals make a move with Josh Rosen, the safe assumption is that the Cardinals will not be taking Murray at one. However, the Bosa vs. Williams debate will continue to rage until at least the first week of free agency. Why free agency?Well simply put Youth D.J. Swearinger Jersey , the options along the defensive line are plentiful for the Arizona Cardinals. One of the reason I have been on the Bosa train is it simply will be easier to find a Williams like impact in free agency over what Bosa could possibly offer. With the Franchise Tag passed out, there are some intriguing options for the Cardinals.Obviously the big names are Ndamukong Suh and Sheldon Richardson, but what about getting a twofer in Henry Anderson and Tim Jernigan?Anderson coming off a good year with the New York Jets and Jernigan getting back to his days in Baltimore where he played his best ball. Getting a Darius Philon and Margus Hunt? What about Corey Liuget and Chris Covington? It is an amalgamation of talented names that could give the Cardinals an alternative to Quinnen Williams at the top of draft. The talent along the 3-4 front in free agency is rich and deep.Where the edge talent is not nearly as deep or having as much top end talent. Now Stitched Marcus Gilbert Jersey , this isn’t to say if the Cardinals signed one or two that Williams would be out of the picture, but it shows that the talent pool is pretty deep heading into free agency.
FLOWERY BRANCH Youth Julio Jones Jersey , Ga. (AP) —sh by agreeing to a one-year deal with defensive end Bruce Irvin on Wednesday, reuniting the veteran with coach Dan Quinn.Irvin, cut by the Oakland Raiders on Saturday, became a free agent after clearing waivers on Tuesday with $3.8 million remaining on his contract. The Falcons play at Cleveland on Sunday.Irvin, 31, is an Atlanta native. He celebrated his return home by posting on his Twitter account “Man it’s time! You can’t put a price on the chance for me to play for my people and city! It’s bigger than money!”Irvin was expected to arrive in Atlanta on Wednesday night and join practice on Thursday. Quinn said Irvin will play against Cleveland. The Falcons rank 27th in the league with 17 sacks. Takk McKinley has a team-leading 5½ sacks, but Vic Beasley has only one. Beasley led the league with 15½ sacks in 2016.The Falcons hope Irvin adds new punch to the pass rush.“He’s definitely a big addition to our team,” said defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who has three sacks. “As a player and as a person, we know the personality he plays with matches what we want to portray or have up front, that dog mentality. We’re ready to go hunt.”Quinn said the homecoming and the chance to play in a familiar scheme were motivating factors for Irvin.“It’s pretty rare you get to play in your home city,” Quinn said. “He recognized that might be a special moment for him and he really is challenged.”Quinn said Irvin also is motivated to show he can be a successful pass-rushing end after being waived by the Raiders.“He really is ready to prove it,” Quinn said, adding often a player’s “most memorable competitive moments are in prove-it times, so I love it he feels he’s got some things to prove and really wants to play well. That’s what we talked about.”The Falcons’ defense had more good news on Wednesday. Linebacker Deion Jones, who has been on injured reserve since suffering a foot injury in the season-opening loss at Philadelphia, returned to practice. He is not eligible to return until next week’s game against Dallas and has not been placed on the active roster.“It’s going to be awesome Julio Jones Men Jersey ,” said Beasley of Jones’ return. “We’ve been waiting on him to come back. He’s a definite leader on the defensive side of the ball and not just the defense, on this team. There are a lot of guys who look up to him.”Quinn said Jones’ snaps in practice will be watched closely this week. He said he has no timetable on Jones being cleared for a game. The Falcons (4-4) have won three straight despite losing starting safeties Ricardo Allen and Keanu Neal to season-ending injuries. Starting guards Andy Levitre and Brando Fusco and running back Devonta Freeman also are on IR.Irvin played with Seattle when Quinn was the team’s defensive coordinator.Irvin had three sacks with Oakland, but played only nine snaps in a 34-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night.Irvin (6-3, 250) played four seasons with Seattle before joining the Raiders in 2016. He had eight sacks as a rookie in 2012 and matched that career high with Oakland in 2017.He set a career high with six forced fumbles in 2016. His 11 forced fumbles since the start of the 2016 season are the most in the NFL in that span. For his career, Irvin has 40 sacks and 15 forced fumbles.Oakland was expected to enter the season with Irvin and Khalil Mack leading the defense as bookend pass rushers.Instead, Mack was traded to Chicago a week before the season for a package of draft picks following a lengthy holdout. The Raiders rank last in the league with seven sacks. ATLANTA (AP) — When Super Bowl 53 kicks off less than two weeks from now, legions of police and federal agents will be positioned to protect fans inside and outside the Atlanta stadium where the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams face off.The game will bring international attention, which makes it a potential target for terrorism, said Brian Levin, a former New York City police officer who is director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino.“We fortify these events because we have to,” Levin said. “They’re the brightest bug lamps that attract an array of possible extremists and also unstable people as well.”Authorities won’t discuss specifics of their security plan. But they say they will safeguard areas beyond the downtown Mercedes-Benz Stadium and make officers visible across the city. The city’s police department has worked with more than 40 state, federal and local law enforcement agencies to develop the plan, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields said. Officers will work 12-hour shifts and will “position ourselves so that we can react immediately to whatever scenario we are confronted with,” Shields said. The chief said law enforcers have been preparing for two years, during which time they visited Super Bowls in Houston and Minneapolis to observe safety measures taken by their counterparts.Recent attacks in the U.S. and around the world have taught authorities that they must be prepared to defend more than the obvious targets.Atlanta knows this well. During the Olympic Games in 1996, a man set off a pipe bomb at Centennial Olympic Park Color Rush Julio Jones Jersey , a downtown public space that lacked the high security of the athletic venues and Olympic Village where athletes were staying. Shrapnel from the bomb tore through a crowd of concertgoers on July 27, 1996, killing a woman who was hit in the skull with a nail, and wounding more than 100 others.“Our main focus at that time was on the Olympic Village,” said Richard Stogner, who was in charge of finances for the Olympics and as such was involved in security meetings weeks and months before the games. Stogner witnessed the deadly violence from his office overlooking the park. He recalled walking onto his balcony and seeing a large cloud of white smoke and at least a couple of people lying on the ground.Shields said there was a desire at the time to make the park “family friendly,” so the decision was made to keep security more lax there.“In hindsight, that was a mistake,” she said.In the days leading up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, the park — which has been closed off with high chain-link fencing in some places — will play a central role as it hosts numerous concerts and other game-related celebrations. In addition to increased security around the city, Atlanta Fire Rescue will put some of its paramedics on bicycles so they can reach patients in areas crowded with pedestrians, Chief Randall Slaughter said. And Shields noted that a joint operations center that will also include officials from Georgia Power and the city’s mass transit system is set to open Saturday.Authorities will not take their preparations for granted, however, because terrorists “never stop creating, they never stop thinking,” Shields said.In Atlanta in 1996, “the guy just decided that he wanted to blow up people Julio Jones Jersey Boys , so he set a bomb off,” Stogner said. “That’s hard to prepare for.”During a soccer game between France and Germany near Paris in November 2015, it was outside the stadium where suicide bombers blew themselves up, killing a bystander. And in May 2017, it was as fans left a concert by singer Ariana Grande in Manchester, England, that a bomb was detonated, killing more than 20 and wounding more than 100.In recent years, threats have evolved from large terrorist groups to small cells or “lone wolves” who can be harder to identify. Some become radicalized on the internet, borrowing hatred from other groups and blending it with their own views, Levin noted. The motives of others are difficult to discern, such as the sniper in a Las Vegas high-rise who opened fire on an outdoor country music concert, killing 58 people and wounding more than 800 others in October 2017, Levin said.Cedrick Alexander, a former public safety director in the metro Atlanta county of DeKalb, said he believes Atlanta “is going to be one of the most-prepared cities in America” because of its experience handling national events. But he notes that the lesson of the Las Vegas massacre is that “you have to be prepared for anything.”

Griffin sat for a meeting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman and quarterbacks coach James Urban to begin a process that has continued over the last few months.Griffin said the “game is about mismatches” and that the Ravens are hoping to create those with a unit that can make plays on the ground or through the air.“I’ve got to make sure I understand the offense, forward and backward,” Griffin said, via the team’s website. “The offense will look different. I think we’ll shock some people with what we’re going to do. If we need to run it 60 times, we can do it. But if we need to throw it 30 to 40 times, we can also do it. I think that’s what we’re working on, to make sure we have those capabilities.”If called upon, Griffin said he’s “a better quarterback than I’ve ever been” although the Ravens won’t be putting that to the test unless something goes very wrong for Jackson. Now it’s time to ask the opposite question and debate if Carolina should trade down in the first round. Thanks to a CBS mock draft this week, we can analyze a specific trade down scenario instead of just having a theoretical debate. Here is what CBS’s Cody Benjamin put on the table: So in exchange for moving down four spots in the first round Blue Greg Little Jersey , the Panthers would gain an additional third round pick, No. 83. As a frame of reference, that’s the 19th selection in the third round. So who’s available at No. 20? In the CBS mock draft the Panthers were able to land Clemson edge rusher Clelin Ferrell. Whether Ferrell would still be available at No. 20 is up for debate (he currently ranges from the No. 13 overall pick to No. 32 at CBS), but let’s set that topic aside for now. Let’s just assume Carolina was able to move down to No. 20 while still being able to draft the Clemson sack machine. So who’s available at No. 83?Let’s now take a look back and see what types of players Carolina has been able to land somewhere near No. 83 (plus or minus 10 spots) over the years:Panthers picks near No. 83 overallYearPlayerPosPickNotesYearPlayerPosPickNotesOverall, Carolina’s selections near the No. 83 overall pick offers a mixed bag of success and failure going back to 2006. Here is my unscientific summary of Carolina’s 11 picks:Pro Bowlers (1) - Trai TurnerQuality starters (2) - Charles Johnson Greg Little Carolina Panthers Jersey , James AndersonStarters (2) - Daryl Worley, Brandon LaFell Depth (1) - Dan Connor (probable starter if not injured though)Busts (4) - Daeshon Hall, Armanti Edwards, Corvey Irvin, Rashad ButlerToo soon - Rashaan GauldenBy my count Cheap Greg Little Jersey , the Panthers have landed five starters versus four busts. Dan Connor, who I classified as “depth” because of how his career played out, was still worth a third round pick. Time will tell what the Panthers have in Rashaan Gaulden. So should the Panthers trade down to No. 20 if it means landing Clelin Ferrell while giving the team another chance to land the next Trai Turner, Charles Johnson, or James Anderson? The answer to me is simple - HECK YES! (But in full transparency Terry Godwin Carolina Panthers Jersey , I’m also the benevolent dictator of Trade Down Island so these types of trades make me giddy.) If you were general manager of the Carolina Panthers, would you stay put at No. 16, or would you pull the trigger on a trade down scenario for Clelin Ferrell at No. 20 while also picking up with No. 83 overall pick? nta is on his way back to join a defensive line that could use his help."When we learned Adrian Clayborn was not going to be with the Patriots this season Julio Jones Jersey Sale , the natural question to ask was whether he might return to the Falcons. Clayborn played some of his best football as a rotational defensive end for Atlanta, after all, and he played well and graded out well in 2018 despite not piling up sacks. The answer to that question, happily, appears to be yes.Clayborn, who will turn 31 in July, put up 17 sacks in three seasons with Atlanta Replica Julio Jones Jersey , playing in 45 of a possible 48 games during his last stint with the Falcons. He was a valuable rotational pass rusher and a quality run stopper, which ensured he got tons of run for the team both before and after Takkarist McKinley joined up. While he put up just 2.5 sacks in 14 games with the Patriots last year, he was still good against the run and still managed 13 quarterback hits, very much in line with the kind of production he was putting up in Atlanta from 2015-2017.We don’t know the structure yet, but it appears it will come with incentives, and this is a signing I’m fully on board with. The Falcons were dreadfully thin at defensive end and counting on a big step forward from Takk McKinley (which I think will happen), major improvement from Vic Beasley (which I’m less certain about) Stitched Julio Jones Jersey , and significant snaps from Steven Means. Bringing back Clayborn gives them a proven, well-rounded defensive end with experience in Dan Quinn’s defense to rotate in and take on a larger role if anyone falters, and it can’t help but boost a pass rush that was uncertain to say the least heading into next year. The team still has room to add a pure pass rusher at defensive end in the draft or an impact defensive tackle, but Clayborn’s signing at least gives them a solid group of seven players along the defensive line before the draft ever happens. We welcome Clay back warmly and hope he’s ready to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks again in 2019. Tom Brady will be 42 in August. ion are 65 Stitched Ray Lewis Jersey , combined. The team that has dominated the AFC East, winning it every year except one since 2003 and 10 in a row, will be facing in 2019 a trio of quarterbacks who arrived in the NFL via the first 10 picks of the 2018 draft. From Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (No. 2) to Bills quarterback Josh Allen (No. 7) to Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen (No. 10), this trio of high-pedigree players will try to keep pace with pick No. 199 from a draft that happened when Darnold was two and Allen and Rosen were three.Throw in Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (No.1) and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (No. 32), and the Patriots will be facing all five of the 2018 first-round quarterbacks in 2019. Given Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s success when facing a quarterback for the first time, those eight games could be the fuel for another division title, No. 1 seed, AFC Championship game appearance, and Super Bowl berth.Pushing to make the Ravens roster, CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste believes that he can be “one of the best in the league” Coming into the 2014 NFL Draft, Stanley Jean-Baptiste was thought to be one of the best cornerback prospects. At Nebraska, Jean-Baptiste finished with 74 tackles, seven interceptions, 22 pass deflections and one sack. For his play during his senior season Youth Ray Lewis Jersey , he was named second-team All-Big Ten, finishing with 41 tackles (three for a loss), one sack and four interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. Jean-Baptiste’s athleticism showed up during the 2014 NFL combine with a 41.5-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot and six-inch broad jump. He stood at 6’3, 218 lbs. and his size was seen as a top-notch asset at the position. He impressed the New Orleans Saints enough to be selected in the second round with the 58th pick. Though everything seemed to be falling into place for the then 24-year old, he played in just four games during his rookie season, mostly on special teams. It was thought that his situation would improve during his next year with the Saints. That would not be the case. Things fell completely apart for Jean-Baptiste on September 3, 2015 in a 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in New Orleans’ final preseason game. He was constantly beaten on plays and was chewed out by head coach Sean Payton for his play on the sideline. In just his second season in the NFL, Jean-Baptiste was cut from the Saints.“Going into New Orleans, I was a rookie [and] I didn’t really know much,” Jean-Baptiste said of learning from his time with the Saints. “I just tried to control things that I couldn’t control. But at the same time, I learned from my mistakes.”He would soon be picked up by the Detroit Lions on September 6, 2015, signing to their practice squad. However, he was released on December 15. Then Stitched Marshal Yanda Jersey , he was signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad on December 17. He would then be picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs on May 9, 2017, before being waived on June 15. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed him on July 25 of the same year, then waived and placed on the practice squad on September 2. By September 12, Jean-Baptiste would be released by his fifth NFL team.Jean-Baptiste sat around for a few weeks with no team. His fortunes would finally change on October 3, 2017 when the Ravens gave him a shot on their practice squad. He would finally be called up to the active roster on December 5, making one tackle on the year. This season, Jean-Baptiste has a new outlook on his career. “I would just tell myself to just control what I can control, on and off the field,” Jean-Baptiste said. “Everything will fall into place when it needs to.”This is Jean-Baptiste’s first training camp with the Ravens, and he’s especially excelled this preseason. The 28-year old has two interceptions and has received more opportunities with the absence of Maurice Canady and the extra preseason game. Veterans have also needed a breather, giving Jean-Baptiste more on-field time.“Other training camps were going well, just like how it is right now,” Jean-Baptiste said. “It’s just [there’s] more opportunities with the Ravens. At the same time Youth Marshal Yanda Jersey , it’s just I’m getting more playing time. We have more vets on this side of the ball – the defensive side of the ball – [so] it’s a lot of rest time for them. So, that means I get on the field more.”With Jimmy Smith’s pending four-game suspension, it is assumed that Jean-Baptiste will make Baltimore’s 53-man roster. During Smith’s hiatus, he feels that he can step up to make Baltimore’s roster to give them extra depth at corner.“I don’t know what they’re going to do with Jimmy’s suspension,” Jean-Baptiste said of Baltimore’s roster decision. “The opportunity with me is going to come, as I said, on the field – finishing strong for this last preseason game and hopefully they make a decision upstairs.”In his second season with the Ravens, Jean-Baptiste has felt more comfortable in his role. The defensive-minded franchise has felt like home to him.“Yeah, I mean, I’m pretty comfortable wherever I go,” Jean-Baptiste said. “But [the] Ravens 鈥?Yes, like you said, it feels more at home. It’s more like a family over here.”Not only has he continued to grow on the field with Baltimore, but he has grown in the film room. The defensive scheme of the Ravens seems to fit him better and play more to his strengths White Maurice Canady Jersey , but regardless of what the situation is schematically, he believes that he is a better player overall.“Yes, I think I’m a better player It’s more as in - not on the field, but just knowing how everything goes, just knowing how the system is and knowing how to control what I can control,” said Jean-Baptiste of his situation with Baltimore. He hopes to make the most out of each preseason game, especially since his spot is not guaranteed. Jean-Baptiste is competing against Darious Williams for a potential roster spot and if he does make the team, he is fighting with 2018 fourth round pick Anthony Averett for playing time. “Every game is important – even if it’s preseason. Going out there every day, putting out good film for all the 31 teams to see – that’s important. You can’t go out there and put out bad film, because that’s the last thing they’re going to think about you.”Just because he hasn’t stuck with a team long term doesn’t mean that Jean-Baptiste has no confidence in himself. That confidence has been on full display and has helped guide him in the game that he loves so much.“The confidence is already there,” Jean-Baptiste said. “To bounce back - it’s just football. You’re doing something you love. It won’t go away like that – that easy.”If he gets to take on the team that drafted him, Jean-Baptiste would like to show New Orleans what they are missing out on. Luckily for him, he will have the opportunity to show the Saints that they made a mistake in cutting him. Baltimore takes on New Orleans in Week 7 on October 21. “The chip [on my shoulder] is always there,” said Jean-Baptiste. “At the same time Maurice Canady Jersey 2019 , whatever ball club I’m playing for, I’m going to give them my all. But if I do play against a team that cut me – yes, it’s going to be a little personal.”When given the chance, Jean-Baptiste believes highly in his abilities. Those abilities in the past made him a second round pick, but he believes that his ceiling is much higher than just being a former second rounder. “I think I can be one of the best in the league,” Jean-Baptiste states bluntly. “When I get my opportunity, I’m going to show it. But at the same time, until then I’m just going to keep working on my craft and just keep fighting for my way on the field.”

Munnerlyn will not be designated as a ‘post-June 1 cut’ and the Panthers will save $2 million against the 2019 salary cap with this move.Munnerlyn had become a very familiar face in Carolina over the years. He was drafted in 2009 as a seventh-round pick and grew to become a solid corner for the Panthers over the years. He played for the Vikings in a three-year stint before coming back to Carolina as a free agent in 2014.The nickel cornerback had 47 combined tackles, nine pass deflections, and one interception in 2018. He played in all sixteen games, but he only started in five of those games. The Panthers decided to cut Munnerlyn earlier than the June 1st deadline in order to save $2 million in cap space. This is definitely intriguing to see, especially after the Panthers recently announced the release of safety Mike Adams. It seems as though this team is trying to revitalize its secondary by cutting veterans who have become less productive on the field over the years. The Panthers are making more moves as the NFL Draft gets closer by the day. What do you think, Panthers fans? I reached out to Dawg Sports to get their thoughts on the Panthers’ selection of Terry Godwin in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft." Panthers 2019 NFL DraftFour questions with Dawg Sports on Panthers’ seventh round pick Terry GodwinNew,13commentsI reached out to Dawg Sports to get their thoughts on the Panthers’ selection of Terry Godwin in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.EDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Four questions with Dawg Sports on Panthers’ seventh round pick Terry GodwinTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailAs you’ve probably heard by now, the Carolina Panthers selected Georgia wide receiver Terry Godwin in the seventh round (No. 237 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. I reached out to our friends at Dawg Sports to get their thoughts on Godwin, and Mr. Sanchez was kind enough to answer my questions. You can find our Q&A session below.1. What are Godwin’s strengths and weaknesses, and how do you think he could help the Panthers’ offense in 2019?He’s got great hands Greg Little Carolina Panthers Jersey , is tough, strong, has good speed, and is a great route runner. He’s not the biggest (around 6-feet tall) and isn’t a burner, so expectations should be set accordingly for a late round pick. But the upside is definitely there for a guy who can work in the slot. With Newton and McCaffery in the backfield, and other threats on the outside, Godwin will be a strong and willing blocker inside for those two on runs, and can do work on underneath routes. It’s not really a glamour role, but with the way NFL offenses run, he can be a very good third/fourth wide receiver hauling in a ton of balls to help move the chains while opening lanes for McCaffery or Newton to break runs on third downs too.One other aspect, he’s done a lot of special teams work in college too, so he’s also likely going to be able to fill a role on coverage teams, or as a safe hands option (since the speed issue means he’s not gonna be a big play threat there) as a returner.2. The Panthers drafted him in the seventh round. Do you think they got a good value there Blue Greg Little Jersey , or should he have been a UDFA?I’m biased to the kid, as both a Georgia fan and having gotten to know him a bit over the last few years thanks to our paths crossing in this town. So I think it’s good value, and probably about where he should have gone. The lack of size, elite speed, and nothing special numbers in college, combined with little injuries in several seasons, means he was never going to be a first or second day guy. But as said above, he’s got a lot of good tools too and is more than capable of filling a role both next year and for the next decade. Plus, Georgia guys have often had success in the league, even the less heralded guys (see David Andrews as an UDFA who has been starting for the Patriots since his rookie year). And with Thomas Davis leaving this offseason, it feels right that the Panthers have a UGA guy on the roster. Since there has yet to be a season in Panther history without one (simply the overlap of careers for Davis and John Kasay, plus several others alongside them).3. Which parts of his game do you think will best translate to the NFL? Which parts will he need to work on the most? His physicality probably best translates. He’s not going to be afraid of contact, both giving or receiving. That will help particularly in the way Newton and McCaffery get their yards on the ground. And that will help him in the tight spaces of the NFL passing game too. That and his hands. If he can get a finger on it Greg Little Carolina Panthers Jersey , there’s a chance he catches it, something else that will help in tight windows you have to squeeze balls through in the NFL.The areas he probably most needs work on are learning to create space and separation from defenders, particularly the elite coverage men he’ll be across from now. And just getting used to whatever passing trees and routes his teams will be calling on him. He also is going to need to learn roles. He did this well at Georgia, as said, working out wide or in the slot, getting runs on jet plays, I wanna say he had some wildcat and backfield runs too, plus he’s been a return man and cover man on special teams. He’s not gonna be a star, so he’s going to have to carve out his niche on a roster and that is never easy.4. Do you think he has a good chance to make an NFL roster in 2019? Why or why not?Yes I do, especially since he was drafted by the Panthers. Again, seventh round pick, the tight squeeze of a 53-man roster to begin with, and all that Cheap Greg Little Jersey , so he’s far from a lock. But for a seventh round pick I’d say he’s got a much better than normal chance to make it. The reasons why are spelled out above, in both how well I think he fits this team with his playing style, abilities, and what they’ll want to do offensively, and the weird fact that there has never been a single season in Panthers history without a UGA alum on the roster. That penchant for acquiring good, valuable, impactful players produced in the areas nearby might explain why they’ve been better than Georgia’s local NFL team pretty much since that Panthers history began. What do you think, Panthers fans? Do you like the Terry Godwin pick? Why or why not?
